It features a comical ... moresubject- a cartoon of a man looking at his pocket watch! His hat an coat look like he is from the 1940's. He holds a watch in one hand and his other hand is held out in front in a"wait" or"stop" kind of signal. The image was probably part of a larger advertisement or perhaps some other promotional printed material. He could be a commuter or perhaps a an official timer of some kind. He might be a man in a hurry. Or he could be associated with some kind of transportation. Piece measures about 1 5/8" square. The print plate(with the image) is attached to a wood block. It has a copper color finish but I am not sure it is actually metal. It is not as heavy a piece as one that is copper. Total thickness is 7/8" approx) Block is numbered 33A by its original owner. Condition: It is without damage. No significant wear. An interesting subject- might be a nice go along piece for those collecting watches and time pieces. Stamp Block is 1/2" wide by 3/8" top to bottom and 7/8" tall; copper emblem mounted on wood block. And in very nice condition. This emblem was used from 1912 onwards up until the modern era. Up for auction is a beautiful antique Persian block print hand-woven. Hand-knotted linen textile measuring 12 x 20. The textile came from a lot of Victorian textiles, so I believe that it dates from before 1880, when this box of textiles dates from. The piece is signed on the back corner. It says 12 x 20 and I can't quite make out the design but it looks like a peacock or hawk with the words Persia and Trade Mark. Condition is very good. You are bidding on a beautiful vintage printing block of a nighttime winter scene. This might have been used for newspaper or greeting card graphics. It appears to be hand carved and is in fabulous condition(one small nick on the left side-see photo) The raised portion is metal of some kind and is mounted to a wood block with the letter F stamped on each end. This is an 1876 Leather Cover Pictorial Bible. It was put out by the Jones brothers. It has 1000 or more block print Illustrations. I looked through the bible and it seems about every 2 pages or so is another 8x10 or so block print with the tissue paper still in place. The book is 13" high 11" wide and 4" thick. It weighs a lot. My cost to ship is way more then $4.00. The leather shows some wear but I really don't see any wear through. The binding in my opinion is really good considering it's age. The page show some yellowing. A few spots here or there. I did find one page with a 3" or so rip at the bottom of the page. The page is all there though. The family section at the very end of the Bible is gone. I can see there was a picture section on the next page with just a faint image showing it was there. I recently acquired a private and personal COLLECTION of COPPER ANTIQUE LETTERPRESS PRINT BLOCKS that I will be listing over the next few weeks. I have done some research on them and found that they are all related to an Ad campaign by INDIAN GASOLINE& OIL. TEXACO or HAVOLINE OIL. These Letterpress Blocks are done by highly skilled artisans/ Engravers and each represents a different scene and story line for the Ad. All were produced by"Syndicate Advertising Co. of New York who were the chief Ad Agency for Indian Gasoline& Oil in those days. Indian Gas& Oil's office at that time was also in Manhattan just a few blocks away. The Blocks were shipped in a small. Addressed envelope and accompanied by a 3 Cent Stamp for Postage. The Individual who all the Blocks were sent to was named HENRY S. BIR of LA GRANGE. INDIANA. I have ... morelearned in my research that Mr. Bir was a prominent business man back in the day. He owned a number of businesses including his"BIR GAS& SERVICE STATION" as well as the"BIR GARAGE HOTEL" In addition. Description: This gorgeous and rare antique qui lt piece with batting w as block printed on cotton in 18th century France. The design features vines compr ised of stylized flowers that form a lovely lattice pattern along with larger floral motifs made up of flowers. Leav es and striped pat terns. The colors are red and cream. The back side of the p iece. Printed in the early 19th century. Features a delicate vine with flowers and leaves in black and cream. The fabric measures 32 inches in width by 18 1/2 inches in length. This heavy weight f abric would be ideal for pillows or other sewing projects! It would also be great for the serious collector of early textiles! Condition: This is antique ... morefabric. There are holes here and there throughout. There is a vertical seam approximately 10" in from the left edge. There is some fading on the right side of the piece. Please see photos for reference. All fabrics.
