The lot contains 4 pieces which are metal(some I think are copper) attached ... moreto a wooden block. The longest has 3 pieces of metal attached and reads"Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" It also has a small elf with what appears to be holly leaves around him. It also reads"J. B. Lippincott Company" some tiny script writing that I can't make out. I did some research and found that J. B. Lippincott& Co. was an American Publishing House founded in Philadelphia. PA in 1836 by Joshua Ballinger Lippincott and was incorporated in 1885 as J. B. Lippencott Company. It measures approx. 13" by 1 1/2" The second is a reddish colored wooded block with what I believe is a copper& metal Star and Ornament attached. The Ornament appears to have a figure carved in the center. Possibly an elf. It measures approx. 6 3/4" by 2 1/2" The next is a blue or green wooden block with an Ornament made of copper and metal with an elf in the center. It measures approx. 2 1/4" by 1 3/8" The last is a wooden block with 1 piece of metal which depicts 3 elves. It measures approx. 6 1/4" by 2 3/4" These blocks are all in good used condition. They are very unusual and may be depicted in some of J. B. Lippincott's Published Books. Please review my other printing items. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. A copper stamp for making Buster Brown advertising sheets. According to an info sheet that came with these stamps. Outcault made sets of these stamps with generic wording and a cartoon character resembling Buster Brown, From them the store owner was able to print flyers with a their own information. The plate is 4 by 4 inches. Looks to be copper on wood. Includes ... moresample flyer. Condition We try very hard to let you see the condition of our items. All are pictured front and back. These are Rare Old Wood Stamps all hand carved out of pear wood which is a hard wood that is very durable. These were originally used for stamping ink patterns on fabric by rolling ink on them. After studying the Ukiyoye and Torii styles, he founded a school and named himself"Chobunsai" He died on the second day of July, the Twelfth year of Bunsei and was buried at the Rengeji Temple. It measures 7/8 of an inch wide, by 1 3/8 inch tall, by 3/16 of an inch thick.The engraved face is copper, and the backing is probably lead. The engraving advertises DUNCAN'S ADMIRATION COFFEE, a brand I have never heard of. The details are sharp and crisp, and it only has one miniscule ding in the top center. Vintage TJAP Copper Batik Stamp Print Block- Java- Indonesia- Chop Fan Shape A great copper Batik Print Block also called a Tjap or Chop. These Tjaps have been made and used on the island of Java for over a century. They are handmade of copper strips. Carefully cut, shaped and soldered into fabulous shapes and patterns and mounted on a tin framework with a handle. They are used by Batik artists in Java by dipping them into hot wax. Shaking off the excess, and then stamping the wax onto the cloth. And they make beautiful wall decorations! This block is fan-shaped and measures 9.75 by 9.75 inches. Excellent condition.
