Vintage Amita 24k mixed metal inlay Damascene Compact Shakudo type
This auction is for a Vintage Amita Compact with a mixed metal inlay on the front face.Stamped 24K on the back. It measures about 3 1/4 inches in diameter and is made of carbonized steel with a brass or copper( I believe) border. Hinge, and clasp. All of the metal is in good condition with only some scuffs and tarnish. The clasp works perfectly and closes tightly. The mirror inside the compact has some fogging consistent with age. Included is the original liner and pad as indicated in picture. The liner fits perfectly in the bottom half and the has been used a few times. Overall, I believe this compact was used on a day-to-day basis and it was likely brought back from WW II as a gift. The inlay work on this piece is was likely handcrafted by a true artisan in Japan. It is in good condition has some tarnish. The inlay probably consists of ... morethree different metals gold. Silver, and copper. In picture, the gold highlights are obvious most notable at the Pagoda. The Arch and Fence by the Pagoda are silver in tone along with the boat sails and the top of Mt. Fuji. The lines to the right of the Pagoda which is consistent with a gold and copper Shakudo mix. There are also other Shakudo highlights across this piece. Finally, the small plant dots southwest of the lowest tree look yellowish and different than the gold highlights. This may yet be another type of metal or experiment by the artist. The Amita mark on the back face of this compact. As indicated. It is a capital"A" within a diamond-like design. This is an earlier Amita mark which was used in the first half of the 1900's. This auction is for a Vintage Atwater Kent Tube type radio made in 1927 It is their model no 37 In good condition with the power cable cut off and with one of the top cover decorative corner fasteners missing. Metal case has some rubbing wear to paint I am unable to test it due to the cut power cord. Chassis seems to be unmolested with all components in good condition. Quite heavy. It will weigh approx lbs boxed for shipping. This metal cased Model 37 radio was manufactured in 1927 and featured two versions; an art deco paint design and the standard brown with the Atwater Kent ship medalion on top like this one I have on auction. For sale is an all metal milk type stool with a round seat. May have been used by a farmer or mechanic at one time but now awaits a new owner. This rustic looking stool is about 12" tall. 9 1/2" across, and weighs a bit over 4 pounds. Does have some rust and wear but sits level and will be very usable. Vintage Enamelled heavy metal Lassi type Cup and Small Brass & Silver metal dish
A vintage Lassi type enamelled metal cup and a small brass and silver coloured metal dish. These are at least fifty years old and are expertly made. The cup has an engraved or etched surface with a delightful intricate design featuring red and black enamel as the backdrop. I can't tell what the metal is. Bronze, brass or maybe copper from an old artillery shell? It is bronze like in colour. The cup is 4 inches(10 cm) high and just over 3 inches(8 cm) wide at the top. It weighs 300 grams. Condition is excellent, it is very sturdy! The small brass dish with silver coloured metal applique is 4 inches. 10 cm) across. It is good with the cup, but a different type of item, very well made. It may be missing some small strips of the silver decoration or this may be intentional. TWO METAL BUTTONS WITH SCREEN TYPE METAL PIECES.
Here are two old metal buttons that have something in common though they look very different. Both have fronts that show metal pieces cut in the manner collectors call"screen. It is actually metal with tiny round holes in it. The button on the left is a Victorian perforate. Circa 1880-1900. The center screen flower is surrounded by a white lining and decorative border. It has original color black finish and a black lacquered back. The one on the right is a more vintage example, but I can't say its age for sure. It is a molded stylized floral design cut from screen metal and is brass with a shiny gold colored twinkle background. Both are size small: 5/8" and 1/2" respectively. Curta Calculator Type II, #513688 Near Mint condition - 1960 w/ Metal canister
This listing is for a 1960 Curta II Calculator with serial number. 513688. It was most likely made in January of 1960, shortly before the plastic storage canister became standard. Closely following the highest known"black body" version(510395) and even closer to the lowest known"gray body" version(510536) This Type II model retains the metal crank and clearing lever that would be replaced with plastic in the mid 60's. It is still in nearly mint condition, showing very little signs of use and exhibiting smooth and easy working order. It comes with directions for use and the original metal canister that has some light scuffing on top and bottom. Please ask if you need specific photos or other information.
