used 10 or 12 pt( not sure) pt Old English letterpress type. Capital and lower case letters, numbers only one of each, as pictured very small.Used for polymer clay and metal clay stamping. The capital letter P( 4 of them) is placed right before the letter Y.

LOT OF 25 VTG BRASS METAL LETTERPRESS PRINT TYPE BLOCKS ALPHABET LETTERS NUMBERS
This listing is for one lot of 25 random vintage solid brass metal letterpress print type mats* mixed font/size block letters and numbers like pictured( may not be a complete alphabet or number set. Random 25 selected) These print type blocks are loose(not fixed in place) and the letter/number faces measure from approx. 1/4" to 1 1/8" tall(majority are 1/2" tall) the last photo contains approx. 5 lots. These blocks are straight out of an old print shop and date back to the 1920's- used in hot foil stamping typography. They are in as found condition with normal wear from age but overall are in good shape. This print type is great for décor. Arts& crafts, photography, etc. especially since the letters/number are all facing the correct direction as apposed to normal letterpress which is reverse) a great start or addition ... moreto any collection. Ask if you have any questions and thank you for looking. MATS* The Ludlow system uses molds. Known as matrices or mats. Which are hand-set into a special composing stick. Thus the composing process resembles that used in cold lead type printing. Once a line has been completed. The composing stick is inserted into the Ludlow machine, which clamps it firmly in place above the mold. Hot linecasting metal(the same alloy used in Linotype and Intertype machines) is then injected through the mold into the matrices. LOT OF 50 VTG BRASS METAL LETTERPRESS PRINT TYPE BLOCKS ALPHABET LETTERS NUMBERS
This listing is for one lot of 50 random vintage solid brass metal letterpress print type mats* mixed font/size block letters and numbers like pictured( may not be a complete alphabet or number set. Random 50 selected) These print type blocks are loose(not fixed in place) and the letter/number faces measure from approx. 1/4" to 1 1/8" tall(majority are 1/2" tall) the last photo contains approx. 4 lots. These blocks are straight out of an old print shop and date back to the 1920's- used in hot foil stamping typography. They are in as found condition with normal wear from age but overall are in good shape. This print type is great for décor. Arts& crafts, photography, etc. especially since the letters/number are all facing the correct direction as apposed to normal letterpress which is reverse) a great start or addition ... moreto any collection. Ask if you have any questions and thank you for looking. MATS* The Ludlow system uses molds. Known as matrices or mats. Which are hand-set into a special composing stick. Thus the composing process resembles that used in cold lead type printing. Once a line has been completed. The composing stick is inserted into the Ludlow machine, which clamps it firmly in place above the mold. Hot linecasting metal(the same alloy used in Linotype and Intertype machines) is then injected through the mold into the matrices. This is for the 2 trays of vintage metal letters shown. The right set is serif italic with 113 pieces of both caps and lower case. Numbers and punctuation- some are MISSING- there is no cap B and no F's at all. A few of the letters look to be add on's and not original to the set. It is 22pt(1/4" Cap height) serif italic- not positive of the face- but like Century Schoolbook. The other tray has 130 pieces- caps only. With numbers and punctuation, $ etc. These are smaller- they are 18pt(3/16" Cap height) serif regular. They look like Cheltenham. There are 8 pieces that don't match the set. See the photos. The overall length of the metal pieces is 7/8" long. These can be used for stamping. Crafts or any other repurpose you can think of. These are heavy to ship- so flat rate is the best option. LOT 325 Characters Vintage Japanese Metal Letterpress Type Set Japan Newspaper
Offered is a set of Japanese calligraphy type face or letter press. It is from the estate of a Honolulu antiques dealer. I believe this is a vintage Newspaper set up from a local newspaper. There are about 350- characters. I counted 13 rows down and 25 across. It seems as though there are none missing in the box. I think they would make a great tool for an artist or of course used as intended. I researched quite a bit on line and couldn't find another set. So I think they may be somewhat unique and hard to come by. Also I don't know if they printed Japanese papers the same way in Japan as they did in the states. SIZE: OVERALL about 5" x 7" Mistakenly I painstakingly wrapped after I took the photographs. I measured the outside dimensions of the box but not the individual letters. The shank is about 1 1/4" l. x 1/4" x 1/4" I don't know what metal they are made from- but they may be lead. CONDITION: Used.
