American Flag Vintage Letterpress Printers Block– Zinc Copper and Wood Cleaned with“Nevr-Dull Magic Wadding Polish” Hence the white fibers on the block, upon picture magnification. In another 10 years, these printers’ blocks will be antiques. These printers' blocks were my grandfather’s and his work was impeccable. I was also a type-set printer, and my final jobs were for Kmart Sales Item signs in the store. Those blocks were mostly made of steel. The Flag printers’ blocks are made of Zinc, Copper and Wood. The wood was most likely Cherry or Beechwood. Two-color processing was created with these blocks. You can still see some red ink on the Zinc and Wood block with the waving stripes flag form. Each block measures approximately: 1 5/8 inches wide X 1 5/8 inches long X 7/8 inches deep. Stored in a Smoke and Pet Free Environment. With some being Hand Carved. So the above selection shows not only different designs but also a wide range in sizes. I have been collecting wood type for around 20 years and this is my first Apostrophe selection and it will be a long time till I do another. I am a collector of wood type and all the processes I use are designed to show off the wood type but not to damage or prevent the wood type from being used for printing again.
