Are 8 ¼” tall, widest letter is 4 5/16” wide, T is 3 5/8” wide. These letter press letters came from the Minneapolis Printing Firm of O. H. Dahlen. In the printing business from 1903 until the 1980's when the City of Minneapolis took their building through eminent domain to build a Timberwolves basketball parking facility. These letters were working pieces used by Dahlen many many years ago in their business. They were stored for many years until I recently acquired them. They have not been cleaned. And are dirty. The ink has been lightly sanded off the letter to reveal contrast but will still work, if you actually have a press. The patina is preserved while making the letters pop. These are almost a hundred years old and will make a strong statement. The E is 3 1/4 inch the Q is2 and a half the U and T is two" and the a,L,I, and Y are 1 5/8" What is shown in the pics are exactly what you will receive. There is also a set of numbers that includes punctuation. The type won't come organized, because I don't know how to do it. They are each separated in their box according to style. The three Wickershire Quoins are a big plus. Paper, ink, and all other items seen in the photos are included. I do not know the proper names of all of it. The type is in exceptional condition, only a few pieces have light ink on them. The photos really don't do it justice. It's a great set of letterpress accessories that anyone will enjoy. The original paper Font identification index is still on the front of most of the drawers. This font appears to be similar to Helvetica Compressed. A Great Find! This type has been used but the printing surfaces are very clean and the character edges are generally nice and sharp. A letter"C" has been trimmed for copy fitting. But the printing surface appear to be fully intact. This is a vintage set of wood type cut in a 6 line"Gothic" font containing 137 characters that are 1" high. There is a complete alphabet of upper case letters as well as some punctuation. Ampersand, stars and spacers. The groove on the back of the type was designed to fit the channel strips on"Showcard" presses and this also locks up as any wood type. HAMILTON” cast iron drawer pull and the label bracket are firmly attached with label still in place which says“18 Bernhardt Gothic/ ALLEY 1” which I believe is the typeface and size that was stored in this drawer. Measures approximately: 32" x 16.75" Hamilton drawer handle adds another.75" to width) x 1.5" IMPERFECTIONS: A) one space divider(3.5" width size) was cracked in half and the piece is missing so there is only a half of the ... moreoriginal space divider. Which is still firmly in place. This is very easily restorable by either getting another piece made to replace it, sanding the edge and keeping it short, or removing it entirely for a larger space. B) There are water stains to the bottom of the drawer which happened well over 15 years ago. Which does not effect the wood strength. There is no warping. The water stain just affects the color of the wood. C) Markings on tray bottom and wear as expected with a vintage printer drawer that was used. In the printing business from 1903 until the 1980's when the City of Minneapolis took their building through eminent domain to build a Timberwolves basketball parking facility. These letters were working pieces used by Dahlen many many years ago in their business. They were stored for many years until I recently acquired them. They have not been cleaned. And are dirty. There are some small black spots that appear on the letters. Those are spots from my camera, not on the letters. I have a number of large sets of various fonts that I have for sale.
