Up for sale: A 1907 Hamilton printers case. This is one of the older cases on Ebay. We have several from the same unit and the bottom case handle is embossed with the date of 1907. This was back in the day of Teddy Rosevelt. When only 8% of population had phones, few had electricity, and few had cars. Average wage was 22 cents per hour and 95% of births were at home. The type used in these cases were just about the only way to communicate. Quite a different era. If these cases could only talk. We talk for them as they do make a good conversation piece. These cases are now being used for quite a variety of clever uses. All types of collections. Fly fishing flies, ammunition, thimbles, marbles, etc. One fellow we met placed a piece of glass on them and created beautiful coffee tables. Studebaker Printers Block Copper 1950s Letterpress Raymon Loewy This print block was used to create advertising materials for Studebaker. Before they combined with Willys and Rambler to become American Motors. Features the famous Lazy S logo designed by Raymond Loewy that was used during the 1930s until the 1950s so I would date this to around then. Lowey desingned some of the most famous industrial designs of the 20th Century including many cars for Studebaker, including the Avanti.This was likely used for newspaper advertising and dates back to the 1950s or 1960s. Loewy began his long and productive relationship with U.S. automaker Studebaker Corporation of South Bend. Indiana, in the 1930s. Loewy and Associates was contracted by Studebaker to provide design services for the independent automaker during the waning years of the Great Depression. ... moreHis designs first began appearing on late 1930s model Studebakers. The item for sale is a wooden printing block letter T that is in good condition with marks and patina as per photo. The block is 3.5/16" tall and and approx 7/8" thick overall. Although the photos were taken outside the fill in flash has made the blocks look a little lighter than they are. Will be posted using a cardboard box. Books, posters, tickets, forms, newspapers, and other types of printed paper were produced on a printing press.
