Very unusual printer's letterpress. Die, plate or block, whatever you call it. Very heavy, probably lead. Many logos of fraternal/service organizations: Arabia Shrine, Masons, Toastmasters Intl. Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, Optimists Intl. some I don't recognize, all on one plate. Pretty rare, I think. Overall plate measurements: 10.25 x 3.5 inches. 72 POINT ONYX typeface - 10 numbers, 3 symbols - lead letterpress type
There isn't a lot to tell here. It's just 13 sorts- 10 numbers and 3 symbols of 72 POINT ONYX typeface. It was in a giant pile of pied type that I sorted years ago and this is all that was in there of this font or typeface. I still hate the thought of melting these down and thought SOMEBODY out there might be able to use these for something other than bullets or sinkers! I know it isn't much and postage is going to be most of it but these are big letters. 72 POINT(ONE INCH) and I like this typeface! It weighs just under the limit to keep these in first class mail.

Vintage H.B. Rouse"Forty" Letterpress Lead and Slug cutter in good operating condition. This was used to cut flat pieces of lead(leads and slugs) that are used to space lines of letterpress type. Marked HB Rouse and Company Chicago and has a very nice brass rule. All moving parts are in working order. I found them with a Hamilton printer tray along with other letters and advertising blocks that I'll put up for sale soon. Therefor I'm assuming those are Hamilton letterpress block. But since I'm not an expert I can't guarantee they are Hamilton. Description as follows: 8 letters have wood block support. 5 letters measures 1" x.15/16" There are 3"T" 1"N" 1"B" 3 letters measures.7/8" x 1 1/16" There are 1"N' 2"T" One"T" needs to be reattached with glue as shown in last pic-4 letters are entirely made of alloy which are 3"T" and 1"M" One T' is silver toned. Dixon mold polish for hot casting Linotype letterpress lead
A partially used can of Dixon mold polish used in our old letterpress/Linotype shop. It's fairly heavy. So I'm thinking it has quite a bit in it, but no way am I prying this lid off to find out, as I spilled some of this on a concrete floor one time and have never experienced anything so slick. A little bit goes a long way. Here is what the packaging says: To remove and prevent metal from accumulating on spacebands at casting point. At least once a week before graphiting spacebands clean the sleeve at the casting point with Dixon's Mold Polish, applied with a polishing block. Wipe clean with a cloth. Set of 15 antique lead letters for printing. 9 of the letters are 8 picas tall(1 5/16" 5 are 4 1/2 picas tall(3/4" and the remaining 2 are 4 picas tall(5/8" The measurements refer to actual height of the letter. Not the actual slug size. The large slugs are 15/16" tall x 1 11/16" long, width varies to letter. The medium ones are 15/16" tall x 1" long and the smallest are 15/16" tall x 13/16" Due the weight of the letters(2 1/2 lbs) they will be packaged in a Small Flat Rate Priority Box with Tracking. CHINESE FONT LETTERPRESS METAL TYPE RARE VINTAGE ANTIQUE LEAD RED

There are 2024 individual pieces out of a possible total of 2048. The extra pieces were missing when I acquired this. It is still a fantastic find. Some are red in color. Only on the top though. No idea why they are red though. There are some English letters sprinkled in there but the vast majority are in what I believe is Chinese. Please look to the pictures for details and see the label. I think it might be information about the font or at least who the manufacturer is. The box is very lightweight wood and it has partitions that holds the type in place. The side hinge is in good shape but the latch on the front is missing. I will wrap it securely so that the type will stay in place. 15/16 ... moreinch long 3/16 inch wide on each side(square) Sorry I don’t know the conversion to pts.
