Very good quality, made between about 1870 and 1900 Size: 11 1/2 inches high- about 29 cm Weight: 1269 grammes Condition: very good. No major damage, there are a couple of little nicks on teh edge of teh rim and a couple of tiny bruises on teh body- these are not obvious. There is light wear on the base. It is not cloudy inside, but has some white residue in the bottom- I haven't tried cleaning this. see the photos. This auction is for a hand cleaned font of 14 Point Brush letterpress lead type(ATF#689) which includes Caps. Lower Case, Numbers and Punctuation, cast by American Type Founders. Type has not been used by me, and had been used somewhat by the previous owner. Just about all of the font cleaned up very well. Some pieces remained dark, although I can assure they are clean. Along with a bristle brush(non-metallic bristles ONLY) I do not attempt to remove the natural dullness from aging(patina) on the typeface itself, as it does not hinder the printing process. There isn't a lot to tell here. It's just 13 sorts- 10 numbers and 3 symbols of 72 POINT ONYX typeface. It was in a giant pile of pied type that I sorted years ago and this is all that was in there of this font or typeface. I still hate the thought of melting these down and thought SOMEBODY out there might be able to use these for something other than bullets or sinkers! I know it isn't much and postage is going to be most of it but these are big letters. 72 POINT(ONE INCH) and I like this typeface! It weighs just under the limit to keep these in first class mail.
