VINTAGE NEW ENGLAND GLASS WORKS ART DECO FUR/DRESS CLIP. - ESTATE FIND
This is a NEW ENGLAND GLASS WORKS ART DECO FUR/DRESS CLIP. Actually. I believe it is a fur clip, because if you check the sideways picture on my hand, those prongs are pretty long and sharp. Good tension too. The clip is all silvertone metal with round balls between the three filigree portions. And an inner circle with yet another ball in the center of that. I am not sure of the metal used. Notice how the balls and center portion are much'silvier' brighter) than the filigree portion. Also. The area surrounding the center silver ball appears to be gold in color. Under a 5x loupe, it appears to be 80 years accumulation of dust. Measurements: 2 1/8" x 2" The reverse is imprinted with the New England Glass Works hallmark- see picture. This is a wonderfully delicate piece. Dating back to the Art Deco period- a dress or scarf clip, in openwork metal-beaded detail. I am not sure of the metal, but it is in wonderful condition and measures 2 3/8” by 1 1/2” The rear where you clip it on features the old time clamp style, which is still strong and functional.
