M-41 M-1941 Combat Field Jacket Reproduction ATF Summer Issue with Poplin liner
Near new. Only washed a couple of times to shrink it a bit. No stains, wear, holes or orders. All buttons present. This is the At The Front- Summer Issue model with the cotton poplin lining instead of the the wool. It's nice and still heavy enough to keep you warm. This is the medium size. The drum would hold 16 gallons of fluid when full. It measures 27" tall and 14 1/2" in diameter. ATF BOOKMAN ORNAMENT - 72 POINT - Classic Bookplate Letterpress Cut
This is an old ATF"Bookman" Ornament used for making bookplates that might also have the phrase"Ex Libris" or"From the Library of" or even"This book belongs to. As shown in the photos. It is worn a little and the Pegasus wings have a some places that are slightly nicked. However, since they are solid forms, it may not be very noticeable when used. It looks like this one may have been used with some gold embossing as a little gold color(powder? can be seen still adhering to it. The piece is 72 Point and was made by the American Type Founders Company. It is 2-1/8" long X 1" high made of type metal(mostly lead) I have a photo of the print that it makes from the ATF Specimen Book and Catalog of 1923. Nice solid medal plaque about 6 1/2 round. Wooden shield is about 9 1/2 inches tall about 8 inches wide. Here is some history on this ship. USS Cusabo(ATF-155) was an Achomawi class fleet ocean tug built for theUnited States Navy during World War II. She was the only U.S. Naval vessel to bear the name. Cusabo was laid down 16 September 1945 by the Charleston Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company of Charleston, South Carolina; launched on 26 February 1945; sponsored by Mrs. T.C. Reed; and commissioned at Charleston Navy Yard on 19 May 1945, Lieutenant Walter Hunnewell, USNR, in command. edit]Service history Departing Charleston 30 May 1945, Cusabo sailed to Norfolk, Virginia fortraining in Chesapeake Bay until 25 June when she departed for Newport, Rhode Island. Large signal search light from the USS Atakapa commissioned in 1944. Here is more information about the ship at navsource(dot)org/archives/09/39/39149.htm. It is approximately 70" tall and 40" wide. The ship light has all original parts one that we have has been made into a light(see pictures) I have another one listed they would make a great set. This auction is for a hand cleaned font of 14 Point Brush letterpress lead type(ATF#689) which includes Caps. Lower Case, Numbers and Punctuation, cast by American Type Founders. Type has not been used by me, and had been used somewhat by the previous owner. Just about all of the font cleaned up very well. Some pieces remained dark, although I can assure they are clean. Note that most of the script letters have a standard sans serif letter imbedded on the face corresponding to it in case of confusion in reading the typeface. Along with a bristle brush(non-metallic bristles ONLY) I do not attempt to remove the natural dullness from aging(patina) on the typeface itself, as it does not hinder the printing process. You are bidding on a Vintage Agway. Agway Inc. Syracuse N.Y. 2 Gallon Automatic Transmission Fluid Can. The can is approx 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" The can has a number of light scratches, 2 dents on the bottom corners of the back, small dent on the bottom right side and top front left side. It has surface rust on the top and bottom. Handle has been soldered and top has a dent and has spout pulled over a little bit. Over all really nice advertising piece. We gladly combine shipping. This is a very unique collection of vintage font cards used by printers. The cards were published by American Type Founders. Elizabeth, NJ. There are approx. The box is filled with cards.each has two fonts on it, front and back. From the address, postal zone and phone number I would estimate these cards are from the 1950s. The cards have different types of fonts in both lower and upper case with numbers and symbols. In addition to the great looking cards you get the box. The box is dovetail with no screws. It has a crack on the top. But it is still holding tight well. This is a great piece for any collector, printer, printing company or decorator. They make a great conversation piece. They came from the longtime art director at channel 7 News in Detroit.

Antique Victorian palm leaf MENU heading - seen in 1900 ATF Specimen Catalog
This is a copper electrotype of heading or header for a MENU. It features the word"menu" in a fancy font across what looks like a palm leaf or branch. It is a very old piece dating to about 1900 or possibly earlier. An example can be seen on page 866 of the American Type Founders Specimen Catalog of 1900. I have downloaded a photo of what it would look like printed. It is copper on type metal mounted on a wooden block. The block measures 15-1/2 picas long X 7-1/2 picas high or about 2-5/8" long X 1-1/2" high. This was an Ebay purchase that I made about 10 years ago but I never got around to using it on a letterpress job. It is in great shape but the wood is showing some small cracks from where the tiny nails went into the wood. It can probably be used but gently! It will be coming from a clean. WW2 US Navy Ship Fleet Tug Commissioning Plaque USS LIPAN ATF 85 Korea Vier Nam
Commissioning plaque for USS Lipan. ATF 85, built by United Engineering Co. San Francisco, California. She was launched 21 April, 1943, and had a storied career in the Pacific during WW2. First in the Marianas Operation with the capture and occupation of Saipan 15-19 July 1944; then the capture and occupation of Guam, 21 July- 15 August, 1944. Last was the Okinawa Gunto Operation 20 April, 1945. She then served in the Korean War and participated in the Inchon Landing. Then off to Viet Nam where she served in the Vietnamese Counter Offensive Phase II, 19 October to 21 November 1966, and 1 January to 5 February 1967. She then served in the Vietmanese Counter Offensive Phase III from December 67 to January 68. Last was the Tet Offensive where she served from 5 February to 12 March 1968. She was decommissioned in 1972 and reassigned to the US ... moreCoast Guard and the Florida Keyes in 1980. Finally decommissioned in 1990 and sunk as a target January 22, 1990. She was evidently responsible for the downing of a Japanese Zero in WW2, and the sinking of a vessel. She had a very interesting life and was a beautiful sleek vessel. There were not many ocean going tugs built in WW2. The plaque measures 15 1/4" by 10 3/4" and is about 1/2" thick. It weighs 25lbs. The board is about 23x13 inches.
