The tool took plates into a chamber where it was completely sealed off from light. There it was checked for irradiance, I guess. I am not a scientist, just a tinkerer. It is a very nice part. This was the door where the plates entered. It has a linear actuator which drives the door up and down. The travel is about 1 1/2" The door is 6 3/4" wide, there is an up limit switch, and a down limit switch. It slides freely but firmly, and the slides provide a light-tight seal.
