Antique Birds Eye Maple Veneer Picture Frame, Small, Wide, Birdseye
Offered for sale is an antique birds eye maple veneer frame. This is a small frame. And very wide moulding. The rabbet size is 9 3/4" X 6 3/4" with some allowance. The outside size is 14 1/8" X 11" And the moulding is almost 2 1/2" wide. So this is a very chunky, bold frame. The sight size is 9 1/4" X 6 1/4" with a rabbet depth of 3/4" plenty of room for almost anything. This has a wonderful patina and original finish. There's a few spots where the veneer is missing. And you can see in the fourth photo, there was a piece of veneer loose that was glued down. I cut this frame down from a larger one many years ago. And never used it. It sits flat, isn't warped. Nice and t i ght corners. really problem free. This could be used for many things. And of course can be hung the other way. Currently the ... moreframe has no glass, but I will cut a piece of old glass, acid free backing, and send along screw eyes and wire. I can ship this parcel select or priority mail. Antique Victorian Birdseye Maple Fireplace Mantel c. 1890s This mantel was pulled from one of the first homes to be built on Coronado Island in California. It features birdeyes maple veneer over wood. Dentil trim, the original beveled mirror, columns and a scroll motif on the shelf supports. Beveled wood around the fireplace opening. Good condition for its age. It had been painted and stripped. Looks like water discoloration at the base of columns. See foto, plus other scuffs and remants of paint. The top shelf has pulled away a bit from the back, will try to get a detail foto. There is a crack or two in places, again, I'll get a foto up as soon as I can. A note on fotos: my flash has made the mantel appear shinier and lighter than it is. I will try to correct that soon. The 1st and 6th fotos are truer to actual color. 1952 Birds Eye Veneer Co. Advertising Wallet Birdseye Maple Butternut. Wisconsin Up for auction is this advertising wallet or billfold. The advertising is on the inside of the wallet and reads"BIRDS EYE VENEER CO. It is in nice condition and was found flat in a box. There is some wrinkling where it would fold and if it was used it does not appear to have been used very much. On the outside of the wallet there is a section that resembles Birdseye Maple. I am not sure if this is an actual piece of veneer or a manufactured item. I think this was probably a custom advertising specialty item and not a standard catalog piece. I was not able to locate any markings on the wallet to determine if it is genuine leather. There is an identification card which was never filled out and on the reverse side of the identification card is a calendar dated ... more1952 and is in a removable plastic holder. There is also another removable plastic holder that reads"FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE This pocket is for your Hotel Credit Cards. Club and Lodge Identification Cards, and similar informational data that you wish to have with you at all times. The box it was found in has advertising for Royal Guard with a graphic of an English Palace Guard type of character. This may have been the lid of the box. There is no bottom for the box and Royal Guard may not be related to the wallet. The approximate size of the wallet is 9" x 3 1/4" Birds Eye Veneer Co. was opened in 1912 and located in Butternut, Wisconsin. Antique Birds Eye Maple Veneer Picture Frame, Very Nice Figure, Birdseye
Very handsome antique bird's eye maple veneer frame. This frame dates from around 1860 to 1875. It is in very good condition for it's age. The veneer is all well attached. With only a small amount of veneer loss on several corners, and a narrow strip on the top rail. The frame measures 13 1/2" X 20 1/4" on the inside, 15 3/4" X 22 1/2" on the outside. The moulding is about 1 3/8" wide, and the rabbet is about 3/4" deep, so there's plenty of room for glass, matts, or needlepoint. The birds eye is very evenly distributed on this frame, and is a very nice color and original finish. The frame is joined with square nails, not cross-nailed, and if you are looking for a good maple frame to cut down to size, this could be the one, as the veneer is in such good shape.
