Fine Federal American Mahogany w/ Flamed Birch Veneer Card Table, New England
Federal Mahogany and Flamed Birch Veneer Card Table New England. Probably North Shore Area, Massachusetts c. 1790-1810 The top is crafted of a solid board of mahogany. Rectangle in overall form with a soft curvature to the front lined along the edges with dual-bands of satinwood stringer inlay. It is hinged at the corners, both hinges original, the top lifting fully to lower upon a green-felt padded outward swinging rear leg. The facade of the table conforms to the top, bowing gently along to square at the corners. At the centermost is an oval flamed-birch veneer surrounded by mahogany veneers flanked by rectangular birch selections. The corners are also highlighted with rectangular patches of birch framed by thin ebonized edges with visually complex alternating lines of inlay. The sides are equally crafted of flamed-birch, each moving in ... morethe same direction and of a single piece of birch. Beneath the veneered edges and face of the table is a half-diamond repeating inlaid edging. The table rests over tapered square legs, each beautifully framed in satinwood stringer inlay. The underside of the table is fully original. All blocks remaining intact with original glues and generally showing an undisturbed surface. Hand forged iron rose head nails as well as the original hand cut screws are still securing the underside, all generally undisturbed. The secondaries appear to be New England White Pine, making up the remarkably thick frame, knuckle joint and swinging leg. The table joins with large hand cut dovetails at the back corners, one visible when the gating leg swings outward. Within the oxidization are faintly visible inscribed letters, though at this point they are illegible. This is a very handsome piece in rare condition. Remarkably preserved in every aspect. It is the work of an artisan, perfectly formed with strong clean lines and flawless inlays. It is a wonderful find for any serious collector of New England works of furniture. The following are the sizes. 31 3/4" x 79" and 27 3/4" x 79 1/4" These appear to have one coat of varnish so they would be easily restorable or use them the way they are. They don't have any hardware but the cutouts for the hinges and locksets are there. They look to be birch wood. They are local pickup in central Wisconsin but I will hold them for as long as you like once they are paid for.

Beautiful Sounding(and Looking) Now discontinued Ludwig USA Classic birch in a white wash veneer ply finish. This set is in very good conidtion. Bearing edges are great. I have used brasso and other cleaner on all of the rims. Except the 10" tom, but I will clean it with brasso before shipping. Sizes are 20"x14" kick. 10"x8" tom, 12"x9" tom, 14"x14" floor tom. Perfect for jazz, or rock. All tom heads have newer Remo clear ambassador heads. Kick drum has a Remo powerstroke 3 clear drum head. That is only a few months old. I am including ACES brand pro soft cases for all of the drums. PLEASE NOTE: the case for the bass drum is a 22"x18" size. Solid Birch Stave Snare Drum 4.75x14 Burl Wood Veneer Brass Lugs
I picked this up as a project a number of years ago. It turned out to be a great playing and wonderful sounding drum. The shell is a about 3/8" birch stave with a burl-wood veneer finish. The drum has Adonis lugs. Nickelworks Strainer and Butt-End and 2.3mm triple flanged hoops. The bearing edges look to be a double 45 degree and are in great shape. This drum is very much ready to play and sounds great. It appears that the drum started out as a quality stave construction shell with professional caliber bearing edges and snare beds. What happened after that who knows. Maybe someone's first snare drum project. Maybe someone on a bad day. When I got the drum, the butt-end was in the wrong place. It appears that they installed it too close to the the bearing edge and it kept the head from seating on the edge. The butt-end was moved up ... morethe drum leaving a set of unused holes. However, both installations of the butt-end were in the wrong spot and didn't line up with the strainer and the strainer was too tall for the the 4.75" deep snare and the mounting ears would get in the way of cranking the head tension down. The shell was stained with a fairly opaque orange stain and finished with a thick poly-urethane finish. It was an ugly duckling. I filled the holes for the stainer and butt with wood dowels and sanded the drum down. I finished it in more of natural finish with a rubbed oil finish. I drilled the drum for a Trick or Nickelworks strainer and butt-end but ended up installing this die-cast strainer. I finished the drum with eight Riolo. Single-point, brass lugs. The interior of the drums still shows some of the orange stain deep in the grain. The filled holes are nearly undetectable from the outside, you can see them a little more clearly on the inside. Take a look at the pictures and ask questions if necessary. I am selling off a bunch of Custom and vintage drums. Please take a look at my other auctions. Beautiful but distressed vintage mid-century modern laminated bent wood and curved glass 8x10" 7x9-1/2" visible through glass) photo frame. The veneer looks like birch. No maker's mark. Six brass fastenings on back. CAVEAT: This piece is as I found it as I do not have the skills to recondition/repair vintage wood. There are two nicks at the top edge of the frame(3mm& 5mm) and one 2mm nick at the bottom edge(see photos) Several wear and storage scratches throughout piece(see photos) but it probably can be reconditioned by a skilled wood restorer.
