And it bears the recognized" A" trademark, significant of the workshop. The use of 2 different veneers is rare and uncharacteristic of Ruhlmann's style occasionally seen on commissioned work and designs for variant models or were an in-house execution not intended for the public. Most known original pieces were made of single veneer. And were rarely mixed. Such factor supports it's authenticity, since a reproduction or re-edition, if made would have selected a subject more coherent with Ruhlmann best familiar works and recognizable styles. The more robust construction of the base contrasts with its top, which is typical of Ruhlmann’s style ... moremixing lightness and fragility with invisible sturdiness. This could explain the light Amboyna against the darker maple. In 80 years it is not adventurous to assume this table was at least refinished once. It's near perfect condition states for it's impeccable care along its lifetime. Most owners of Ruhlmann's work were either collectors or from descent, and it is not exceptional to find today pieces in immaculate standing. No recorded documentation of the piece presented here is known. The signature“Ruhlmann” is stamped under the base. The value for a documented item would be much higher than an undocumented work even when its authenticity is not in question. Only 2 conference tables have been documented in oval shape. One in mahogany with a leather band on top and one in ebony Makassar with an amboyna burl base. dimensions 54" wide. 29 3/4" deep. And 16 high" Weight is approximately 55 LBs. Provenance: France. Most owners of Ruhlmann's work were either collectors or from descent, and it is not exceptional to find today pieces in immaculate standing. No recorded documentation of the piece presented here is known. The signature“Ruhlmann” is stamped under the base. The value for a documented item would be much higher than an undocumented work even when its authenticity is not in question. Only 2 conference tables have been documented in oval shape. One in mahogany with a leather band on top and one in ebony Makassar with an amboyna burl base. dimensions 54" wide. 29 3/4" deep. And 16 high" Weight is approximately 55 LBs. Provenance: France.
