This is" Christmas At Red Oak" this beautiful church is a Limited Edition and this is just number 36/ 2500 made- was Hand Made In Scotland. Is dated 1985 but is the 1986 annual Davis Christmas figurine. The cross is gone off the top of the church- I never noticed it- otherwise in great condition- does need minor cleaning. This is an early Showa Era(c. 1930) soroban(abacus) made of kiln dried Japanese red oak wood. This abacus shows a high degree of skill in the construction being made of peg hinoki wood construction with fitted joints. All beads slide freely on brass rods(see picture 5) There is a presentation inscription carved deeply into the backside(see pictures 6. 7, 8) which states that i t was used once by a Japanese accountant at the Tanahashi company(see inscriptions) A testament to its durability. Even after over 70 years, this abacus remains in excellent condition. It measures 13" long x 4 1/4" wide x 1 1/4" deep(33 x 11 x 3 cm) A well-preserved piece of Japanese history. You'll love it. He was able to tell us the age, and that it was most likely used in the Civil War era for veterans. Had Reed Cane back and seat, which was badly deteriorated, and was removed. Sheets of Reed Cane can be purchased and installed. This is made from cast iron, steel and Red Oak. All original. Reclines. Missing push bar on back top of seat. All 3 wheels are same size, as opposed 2 large front and 2 small back. Rotating rear wheel, fixed front wheels. Designed to be pushed. Buckboard suspension on seat. One piece foot rest can be flipped up or down. This is an awesome item, and would look fantastic in many home decors. Knights Templar, in Red Oak, Iowa- all of which is indicated along the rim on the side having a great depiction of a knight on horseback. Below the image is the name of the manufacturer of this item, S. D. Childs and Co. of Chicago. What you are looking at is a discontinued Yamaha Oak Custom 7X14 snare drum in the Red Oak finish. This drum is in perfect shape. For I Might have used it 3 or 4 times and then it stayed in its case. I have outfitted the drum with Puresound P1416 wires, and it also comes with a Humes and Berg Tuxedo case with the shoulder strap. Up for sale is a nice new hand-crafted pair of wooden paddles made from solid red oak. The heartwood and sapwood of red oak are similar in appearance. Which is light-colored with a reddish tone. Both have been sanded smooth, had their edges rounded and finished with polyurethane to give them a durable easy to clean finish. The winning bidder gets both paddles shown in the picture. You get two paddles for the one shipping cost. The longer thin paddle measures 14-1/2 inches long and is 1-3/4 inches wide and it is about 9/16 inch thick. ANTIQUE SALESMAN SAMPLE LOVELY BUFFET / HUTCH (RED OAK ?)
EARLY 19TH CENTURY OAK(or ash? BUFFET/ HUTCH SALEMAN SAMPLE for your consideration. Great overall shape that is commensurate with age! This beautiful rare piece is 26 1/2" tall to top of cabinet(facia is another 1 1/2" x 8" deep at the buffet level and the hutch portion is 5" at its deepest. Beautiful. Rich grain throughout, it has miniature carving on doors. Trim is detailed. Complete wood construction, as are the handles. The condition is lovely, but is commensurate with age. There are two trim bumps/chips and all four wooden feet are chipped. A very few minor'age cracks' in wood. Slight pin-holes around upper door handle. A minor bit of finish staining on back of buffet top(please check photos) This piece is a fantastic example of a long gone era of advertising.
