Made of beautifully aged mahogany these bookends just ooze quality. They have been beautifully crafted from solid plates of mahogany ... morecarved to form an elegant waterfall shape. The wood has developed a deep patina and is well wax polished with a lovely sheen. The bookends must be weighted as together they weigh a substantial 2.5kg's and obviously hold a large volume of books securely. The bases are covered in green baize to protect those precious wooden surfaces. Dating from the Victorian period these bookends not only display beautifully but are also fully functional. Each book end measures: 18cm tall x 13cm deep& 13cm wide. Condition: The book ends are in good used antique condition. As said they have developed a great patina and are well waxed. This is a no reserve auction for a Civil War era surgical bone saw. It measures 9” long with the cutting blade measuring 4” long x 1” wide. It has a wonderful shaped wooden handle which could be mahogany. There is a brass ferrule stamped J.G.L. The blade is also reinforced with a brass edge. The blade is nice and straight with no damage but does have some surface discoloration. I am listing more Civil War era surgical instruments this week. Please take time to check them out. 19th Century Solid Mahogany Bench Made Partner's Desk W/Ornate Details Ball/Claw
A beautiful antique desk! This is a solid mahogany partner's desk that dates to the second half of the 19th Century. We do not know the maker or the region of origin. This piece is bench made and hand carved. The desk measures as follows: width = 50 1/8" depth = 27.75" height = 30 3/8" height to bottom edge at center of kneehole = 23" height to bottom edge of trim at kneehole = 22" The top of the desk has carved designs in all four corners. The edge has an ornate dental mold style trim all the way around. The secondary woods are also mahogany and the drawers have champhored bottoms and dove tails in the front and back. This piece was refinished some time in the early 20th century. There is an area on the top that is sun bleached on one of the ends as well as one of the legs. This same leg has a repair on it as ... morewell. Two of the legs have been repaired on this piece. They appear to be professional repairs. One of them has a very slight movement to it but the desk remains solid and sturdy. This is th eleg that has sun fade on it. The four legs have a beautiful carved design running vertically that ends just above the ball& claw foot. The knee hole has corner mounted pieces that are carved as well. It measures 7" high b y 5 3/4" wide and is hand-carved from one solid block of mahogany. Given its great age of 100+ years. It should not be surprising to learn that it is not flawless- it has had a glued repair to the front of the hat-brim over the right temple, and a glued repair to a sliver about 3/8" wide on the left side of the backplate, see pics. Beautiful Dark Mahogany Ar moire, early 19th c.,
This is a beautiful piece that exudes warmth and comfort in the home. It is in good condition with the few minor flaws listed above that can easily be fixed or replaced. All doors and cabinet space is fully functional. The only replaced peice to my knowledge is the wood piece on the back that has been replaced to accomodate an entertainment center set up but this specific section of wood is very commonly replaced and almost never affects item value. And if it does it's very minimal. The simple yet elegant wood trim designs are exquisite and modest. All in all this peice of furniture is an amazing work of art and Im nothing but devastated to have to say good bye.

Description Antique concierge desk and chair dating from the Victorian period. The desk is made from mahogany and is constructed with dovetail jointing throughout. It has two drawers on the inside with brass lion face ring pulls. On top is a writing slope with sections allocated for ink wells either side of a pen rest section. it is wonderfully simple in style with inlaid string wood banding along the front in the style of Eastlake with tapering legs. Measurements are 36" wide by 18" deep by 18" tall. The chair is made from a walnut which again is Eastlake in style with a woven sampler seat. The central panel lifts up to reveal a large, interior storage area, while a small drawer on the right opens on the right for even more space. Each of the corners on this lectern features hand-cut dovetails, as does the single drawer; dovetails are unusual on exteriors, even for Victorian period pieces, so this is good sign of high quality. However, this lectern has developed some superficial wood separations in the top; these separations are natural and inevitable for all solid wood furniture, since they are part of the wood's"breathing" process. There is also a general complement of superficial wear marks and scuffs, although the lectern has been refinished recently so the wear doesn't detract from the beauty of this lectern. Vintage Mahogany Ukulele - Older Duke K. Model
Early model Duke Kahanamoku soprano ukelele; all mahogany. Aloha emblem, nice tuners and solid top. This ukulele is in great shape for it's age, probably the early 1950s. Typical wear for an older instrument; a nick on the headstock, a repaired crack along the upper bout towards the front. Antique Mahogany Rocking Doll Bed/ Cradle This antique mahogany rocking doll cradle is at least 90 years old- likely made between late 1800s to 1920s based on the family history of the piece(it was my grandmother's) Solid all-wood construction with wooden base for mattress. There is wear. And minor nicks from use- but considering the age it is in good condition. The runners are worn on the bottoms and one of the ends has been damaged& is missing, as visible in the images. I would imagine a craftsman could repair this but I am not an expert so buyer would have to look into repairing it. Still sturdy and usable. This would be great for a doll collector for displaying dolls or for a child to keep her baby dolls. This doll bed measures 21" long x 11 7/8" wide x 11 1/4" tall. Antique Tea Caddy English Victorian Mahogany w/ Antique Glass Bowl
A wonderful example of old Victorian formality. Tea was a treasure and needed a locked box in which to keep it. This example has two removal boxes to store the tea. Both lined with tin. The brass handles on each side are wonderfully bold and look almost like lion heads, however they do need polishing but I was afraid to get polish on the wood. The decorative mosaic wood around the individual tea boxes and the main box are quite lovely although some pieces are missing. You can see that in the pictures. There is also some veneer missing. The glass bowl is quite lovely although there is a tiny chip on the base. The box measures 12" in lenglth and 6" in width and 6" in depth. A lovely example of Victorian times. Up for sale is a beautiful Vintage Japanese mahogany Silverware chest with Skeleton key locks and velvet lined drawers. It measures 25" wide by 8 1/2" deep by 11" tall. there are some condition issues. The box needs to be refinished, there are lots of fine scratches on the top and on the front edge of the box, also there is wear the the brass plates wear the key goes in there is also a triangle brass corner plate missing from the top left back corner. It can be made by sending one of the other corners to someone who casts metal and brass you can find them on the internet. the is a wonderful vintage Japanese chest but it needs a little T.L.C.
