The tube image is clear and has good IR sensitivity and low noise. This is a 1.2 um unit. Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template- AW2KLOT#184 Unknown JDS Uniphase Diode-pumped Laser. Marked'IR' I don't really know too much(OK. Less than nothing. about this item. From the label on the side of the cover I can tell it was manufactured by JDS Uniphase in May of 2000, and it appears to be a solid-state diode-pumped laser of some sort. There is a model number on the side(NU-1/520-000) along with a serial number, 000087. In black marker, on the side of the outer cover, someone has written'IR ONLY' Oddly, I have another, almost identical in all respects including model number, but the outer cover is marked'UV' Please check it out as well. There is a seal(present) between the upper and lower housings but only two of the Allen cap screws are present. It appears that at one time there may also have been an inner ... morecover(there is a grommet on the lead set from the DB-15 connector on the bottom part of the housing that is positioned at the edge of the central plate with all the optics. But I cannot see how this inner cover would have been attached, if it was present) The inner optics carrier plate has a label with the identification'NU 000102' printed upon it. Everything on the optics plate appears to be intact and undisturbed. Please see the last photo for the configuration of the optics. The condition appears to be excellent except for the missing screws(easily replaced) The window on the outer cover exit port is without blemish. I have no idea what kind of power supply is required none was present and I could find nothing on-line specific to this laser. It has 2 cables exiting the rear of the module, one has red and black wires(power) the other has a shielded yellow wire(modulation) This is a class 3b laser it has greater than 5mW but less than 50mW peak power(somewhere) in the 1100– 1600nm wavelength and features modulation per markings on the label. The 2 photo diodes have housings that are about 1.032 inches long X 1.0 inches in diameter. The diodes have an approximately 0.25 inch diameter window with an approximately 0.125” square photo diode chip inside and the active area appears ... moreto be about 0.125 inches in diameter. These 2 diode detectors have wires(2 on one unit, 3 on the other unit) that come out of the rear of the housing and connect to the 15-pin connector along with the modulation and supply wires for the laser diode. 4W IR Laser Diode and Driver, TEC and Control, Fiber Optic Port
Up for bid. Some of my laser toys. I never got around to completing this laser project. Components are as follows: JDS Uniphase 4W infrared laser diode with fiber optic port, mounted to a copper heat spreader, on top of a TEC(thermoelectric cooler) a heat sink and cooling fan. Also included are a 2.5 amp Wavelength Electronics Laser diode driver, and a thermoelectric controller. There is a thermistor mounted on the heat spreader for feedback of the laser temperature. I have tested the parts individually, but not as a system. I'm also including all the paperwork I have collected. The fiber needs to be mounted and polished. You need to make friends with a telephone fiber person to get this done. There is also a.025 fiberglass rod mounted to the top of the diode housing for stiffening the fiber. This is an active, near infrared night vision viewer made for the US Military(60's to early 70's) The housing has some wear and scratches. The optics are in good condition. It operates for many hours on one LR-50(PX1A)battery. This battery is available from Radio Shack, eBay, or other battery stores. Also included is the clip-on infrared light source and soft case. The IR light operates on 2"D" cell batteries. The last picture shows the infrared light source through this viewer. The spectral response is ~350 to 1300nm with limited sensitivity near the ends.
