This listing is for a Ruby laser assembly. These units were used in the M60 tank as rangefinders. Typical q-switched output power at 694nm is 50mJ. The Deep red portion of the visible spectrum. The reflector pictured is in excellent condition. It is a quirk with the camera showing it tarnished looking. The laser head consists of. HR prism, 1/4"X3" RUBY rod,EG&G FX-103C-3 flash-lamp, Elliptical reflection cavity.Steering prism,Rotating q-switch prism,Magnetic position sensor, Temperature monitor thermistor.Output coupler and the Collimation telescope. I have had many of these over the years and this one is in the best condition Ive seen yet. Very clean new like condition. Also included is the original PFN. The insulation has been removed and the capacitors have been replaced. Also included is a nice 115uF energy storage capacitor ... morerated at 2.3KV more than enough to power the flash. Original spec'd is 90uF 1200V. Also included is the mating connector for the 11 pin interface. I will include a wiring diagram and examples on how to hook this up. I have hooked this up with the components offered as pictured and the flash works flawlessly. The laser head is out of alignment and will need to be aligned by the new owner. Xenon High Power Ruby YAG or Dye Laser Silica Quartz Flash Lamp Tube 5in Arc
This item is a very powerful xenon gas flash lamp for a ruby or dye laser. It is optimized for fast pulses to generate more blue or UV light. The lamp is made of fused silica that passes to UVC. But doped to cut off the ozone generating wavelengths. It would be ideal for pumping a home built dye laser. The electrode ends are 1/4 inch diameter and the silica part is 5/16 inch diameter with the trigger wire as shown. The lamp has been tested and works fine, you will need a minimum of about 650V to fire this lamp. It would be an ideal match for the big scary HV capacitor I have in another listing. Vintage weld/vacuum chamber from Spacerays Ruby laser welder Steampunk?
Up for bid is a weld/vacuum chamber from a vintage Spacerays laser. The laser was manufactured in the early 70's and was used by us to weld implantable medical devices for almost 40 years before we finally took it out of service. This is kind of a cool one of a kind piece. It is made out of heavy aluminum(it is aluminum color not gold like it appears in some of the pics) and has a Plexiglas top which is not original. It used to have a glass top. But I don't know where it is. The plexi top is mostly round, but was made by somebody that worked here years ago so it's not perfect. One of the clips that holds the top down is broken(see pic) and the other ones are rough looking. It needs a good cleaning as I just got the worst of the dirt off of it. This is a unique piece that I thought about taking home myself and making a steampunkish(I ... moreknow it's not brass. lamp out of, but I know the wife wouldn't like it. This is the primary optical filter for the Hughes m-60 ruby laser rangefinder detector. The optic is about 2-1/4 inch diameter. It was designed to block the shorter blue and green light and pass wavelengths from red to near IR. The filter is very angle sensitive making it possibly useful as a color selector for some project as well. And becomes transparent yellow at 45 degrees.
