Power Technology 3mw 635nm Laboratory Grade Laser Diode Module Bright Red Beam
This is a nice laser diode module that was part of an older micro-array genetic scanner. The module has a modulation/enable input and runs off 12V. The laser diode is TEC cooled and has a rock solid laser diode driver that is far better than any of the current laser diode drivers they make today. One thing you could do is swap the low powered laser diode out for a higher powered unit and make a very nice laser module suitable for laser light shows up to about 200ma actual diode current draw. This is an unusual TEC cooler with a central 5mm hole. This type of TEC is used to cool laser diodes. Optics, and other devices that need isolation form the cold side of the TEC. The most common use is to have the TEC with a window bonded to one side, and a laser crystal on the other sealed in a chamber so the crystal can be cooled without risk of condensation. The power supply reads 3.00 volts because of the voltage drop across the power leads. Slope is 1W/A with a threshold of 7 amps and 1 watt output at 8 amps.
