Description This is for one surplus PHR-803T Xbox 360 HD-DVD optical pickup. It contains a 405 nm laser diode. And other optics. THIS IS NOT A LASER POINTER. IT IS A COMPLETE OPTICAL PICKUP FOR A HD-DVD PLAYER. The laser diode may be removed for various projects. Or experiments. The laser diode is mounted in a small aluminum bracket with wires as shown. The diode with aluminum mounting bracket is easy to remove from the optical pickup. Both the violet. And red/ir laser diodes are in standard 5.6mm metal cases. See the pictures below for the complete disassembly process. See the last picture for the pinout of both laser diodes(bottom view) The optical pickups also contains many potentially useful optics. These diodes have been pulled from a machine. But each has been tested and found to perform at or greater than shown in the power graphs. After many tests, these diodes have proven themselves to be reliable at high current high power operation. There is very little output loss with time as the diode/module is continuously. This diode is a non-standard size of 3.8mm. IT WILL NOT FIT INTO A STANDARD AIXIZ MODULE, a 3.8mm special Aixiz module must be used. A heatsink is an absolute necessity with this diode since it can handle so much power. If I do not already have heatsinks and 3.8mm Aixiz modules in my shop, I guarantee they will be there soon. This diode is far cheaper than other 405nm diodes of comparable strength. And offers a new"middle ground" for novice and advanced beginner laser builders.
