Up for auction is a vintage Appleton Electric Co. safety drop light. I got this from an estate. I am selling it as is. I don't know anything about it. So I don't know if it's missing anything or not. Please ask questions if I've forgotten something. The tag on the outside is kind of worn. So I can't tell what type or cat.no. it is. On the inside by the socket it says 660W-250V 660W-600V The glass globe is made by Pyrex and says Explosion Resisting I think the fixture is made of cast aluminum(it is not magnetic) The handle has a section that appears to be bakelite although it looks like wood to me. The screw ring that holds the globe on has 4 small holes in the top of it. Maybe they are for a protective wire guard or something? If so. That would be a missing part. The glass globe has a chip about 2" long on the rim but is not seen when on the light. The ring covers it. Pr.Vintage Crouse-Hinds Explosion Proof Light Fixtures VX 8 10 & VXF 20
Very good vintage pair of Crouse-Hinds explosion proof light fixtures. Inside the fixture looks like VX8 10 3174-G? The small junction boxes read VXF 20. The glass is chip and crack free. The glass is 5 3/8" in diameter x 9" long. The glass screws in and out of the threaded fixture without any trouble. The small boxes are 4 1/2" across x 1 5/8" deep. Overall the fixtures are 12 1/2" long w/the glass screwed in. There is some old silicon caulk around parts of the fixtures. Each fixture w/ small box weighs about 6 pounds. They will be carefully wrapped w/ new bubble wrap and boxed very well. Buyer to pay calculated shipping for 13-14 pounds. Please view all photos and ask questions before bidding. Thanks.
