The machine has a smooth running motor that spins the engraver cutter spindle at approx. 18,000 rpms. The rotating spindle head has a burnishing cutter tool installed, there is another accessory head piece that holds bits for"drag Etching" onto glass etc. It includes 2 different size tray tables(one is mounted) to hold the brass lettering fonts, there are 2 bags full of fonts(one set for each size tray) and a organization tray to display them, This is a large machine that will hold rather large items such as signs etc. the base measures approx. 26" front to back by 20" across the front. The top pantograph can be raised above the bed as shown, it also lowers to sit flat on the bed for engraving thin items. I did not weight the machine but read online that it is approx. 85 lbs, with the accessories included the shipping package will be approx. 100 lbs or a bit more I suspect. The motor's bracket has been repaired long ago, it is shown in a close-up photo below, this looks like a very well done machinist repair that has no affect on the machine's ability to perform. The pantograph arms move smoothly and the vise works well, there is a crank handle to open or close the vise. I see that there is another type handle available to open the front and back of the vise at the same time but I do not have this type handle. The edges of the machine have some small touch up paint spots, overall the finish looks very good. Although I have not personally used this machine I think it is in good operating condition and it should service someone well for many years, I will carefully remove the top pieces, motor etc. and pack everything securely so it arrives to your destination safely, hopefully someone can put it to good use!No

New Hermes Bowling Ball Engraver - Metal Pantograph Engraving Mill Machine
New Hermes Bowling Ball Engraver This is a pantograph engraving machine that was originally built and sold to engrave bowling balls. It is a VERY HEAVY machine and I would estimate that it weighs in the 300- 400 pound range but I do not have a way to weigh it. The engraver is working and it uses a rotary cutting tool head that would be capable of cutting soft metals and perhaps harder metal too if time and care was taken when doing the engraving. The pantograph arms allow for a very wide range of font sizes and the engraving unit has a tremendous amount of working space on all three directions(X. Y, and Z) The work holding table is very heavy cast metal and I am including all the clamps and other tools I have for this engraver. The dovetails on the clamping surfice allow for direct clamping of work but the table is plenty big for a clamping ... morevise. I also have a large assortment of various HSS and other cutting tools. Many of these tools are not shown in the photos but they are included. I bought this unit originally to do metal engraving for gunsmith work but I never ended up getting into this line of work so it is time for me to sell some tools. Please check my other auctions as I will be listing an Atlas Metal Lathe. Brigdeport Milling Machine, and perhaps other metal working tools very soon. Buyer will need to pick this up in person or arrange shipping company to pick this up. Like I indicated. This unit is very large and heavy. If you are already monogramming or embroidering fabrics. Or if you have a key business, this machine could be your low cost entry into the lucrative small-goods engraving business. The Vigor machines are(or were) made in Japan and they are perfect little tabletop machines. Weighing a little under 20 pounds, but precise and adjustable as the fine timepieces they were made to engrave. If you have a table at flea markets or gun shows, this baby will sit quietly, waiting to make money for you all day long. The ratio of space taken up to cash generated is remarkable. If you do not already know how to operate a pantograph engraver, you can learn in an afternoon, using instructions easily found ... moreonline. It is a little harder than falling off a log, but not much- and it doesn't make as many bruises. I have worked around engraving machines for much of my life and I would say that this machine compares favorably to the New Hermes Engravograph machines that I have owned and used. It uses the same basic principle and. As you can see, the type is interchangeable with New Hermes machines. There are subtle differences between the designs, though, and you will want to spend a few afternoons familiarizing yourself with this fine little tool before popping in your next door neighbor's Patek Phillipe or Rolex. One of the charming features of this machine is its handy swing-out drawer that holds the stops and any small items you want to keep near your engraving machine. The drawer will hold the 26 pieces of New Hermes type included with it. But you may wish to acquire a slotted tray for storing more type. Overall size 14(d) X 15(w) X 9(h) The condition is Very Good.
