Place the lid on the outer bucket. Plug the outlet hole and fill the outer bucket with hot water. Plug into electric outlet and wait until the buzzer sounds. This is the signal that the milk has reached the right temperature. There is a small hose that comes with the pasteurizer. It is designed to fit over a kitchen faucet. Place one end on the faucet and push the free end as far down as possible between the two buckets. Take the plug out of the drainage hole and turn on the faucet to cold water. Let the water run until the water from the drainage hole is cool. Plug the hole and let set for a while. Repeat the draining and cold water until the milk is lukewarm. This is a high quality bucket with a very heavy stainless cover that is 4" alone. The cover is 1/4" thick stainless x 8-1/8" diameter x about 14/16" deep. The bucket itself has a very few minor dings that are barely noticeable and certainly do not affect the functional use. It has a strong bail and supporting anchors. 13" in diameter x about 16-1/2" high to downsized opening/ It's 21-1/2" high with the bail straight up in the carry position. Stainless steel 5 gal farmer dairy bucket base from a milker or milking machine. This great old piece is in great condition. No rust. Great sheen, feet on the bottom and a firmly attached handle. It has some dents on the bottom as shown in pictures. This is about 12 1/2" tall with a 7” open mouth and a bottom diameter of 13" GREAT use for decoration, hand painting, garden, planter or what the heck…to haul liquid such as milk! Its certainly clean enough to do so! This is a tad over 8# as is before wrapping to send This may be by DeLaval, I am not sure. The best thing about this can is the feet on the bottom. There are some little dents along the front edges which is common. This bucket is roughly about 16 inches in diameter by I would say a little over 7 inches high-the belly of it-not the handle-just the tub. The top opening is 7 1/2 inches outside. The inside looks clean. When I got this bucket it was dusty and dirty so I basically rinsed it off and dried it with a towel. I believe it is a 5 gallon but I am not sure.
