Vintage Triumph Model 131 Signal Generator Test Equipment for Tube Radios
You are bidding on a vintage"Triumph" model 131 signal generator for tube radio alignment. Nice looking vintage Triumph 1341 signal generator with big vernier airplane-style frequency dial(photo 1) Covers AM frequencies from 100kHz to 96MHz in five bands. Output level is adjustable using a range switch and an attenuation pot. Modulation choices include 400 cycle. External, unmodulated, and 400 cycle audio. Controls are nicely laid out and front panel artwork matches the better known Triumph Oscilloscopes. The unit measures 13" wide by 9" high by 8" deep and weighs about 17 pounds. This 131 is serial number 1045. Made in the USA(see last photo) It's in good cosmetic condition with both output cables and a decent line cord. Some screws are missing from the front panel and the output potentiometer is stiff(needs ... morelubrication) The external modulation socket was either never installed or has been filled with a hole plug(see photo 1) I tested this signal generator using an ordinary AM radio. I set the radio to 1210KHz(where there is no local station) Wrapped an output lead around the antenna, and tuned the signal generator through 1210KHz. As it passed through that frequency the AM radio picked up the signal. I could adjust the signal strength using the output range switch. That is all the testing I did, but it shows that this signal generator is working to some degree. For safety it would be a good idea to replace the power supply capacitors if you plan to use this regularly. I have been collecting and restoring antique electronics for more than 30 years. This unit is untested but is in great cosmetic condition except for the bottom of the metal box. It looks like the case at the bottom has been subjected to some moisture but when I opened it up the inside is dry and the chassis is connected about half way down anyway so it looks like the corrosion is only on the bottom.
