Auction is for a total of Three non-working HP 8640B Signal generators. All three were working and in calibration in the past few years. Below are details of each: First unit was in calibration and working in 01/13. Fine tune inoperative and AM modulation control intermitten. Second unit was in calibration and working 01/11. Fine tune broke Internal/external switch broken, Frequency stays at 0. Third unit was in calibration and working 01/09. No RF output, FM switch broken.

From the HP Manual: The 8640B covers the frequency range of 500 kHz to 512 MHz(450 kHz to 550MHz with overrange) The frequency range can be extended to 1100 MHz with an external doubler or with HP Option 002 The frequency counter and FM range settings will automatically adjust if the external doubler is utilized(not ... moreincluded) If the unit has option 002. There is a factory installed internal doubler which will extend the frequency to 1.1GHz. The output range is from +19 to-145 dBm(2V to 0.013 microvolts) and may be calibrated and metered. The output is leveled to + or– 0.5dB across the full frequency range. The 8640B provides AM. FM and pulse modulation for a wide range of applications. AM and FM can be performed independently or simultaneously in either the internal or external modes. Pulse modulation is via external modes only. Other significant features are extremely low noise. Built-in phase lock, ability to utilize the frequency counter for external signals(unit doubles as a frequency counter across its full range) and front panel controls for ease of operations. The phase lock feature is very nice in that the operator can set the frequency on the display. Push the phase lock button and the unit will lock on to the displayed frequency. The built in frequency counter has a 6-digit LED display and gives a normal resolution of 10 kHz at 500 MHz and 10 Hz at 500 kHz.
