It comes with the owner's/ Technical manual. Misc tutorials and related sales literature burned onto a CD. This 1000A is in excellent operational condition(to the best of my use: see below please) It has the M2(dual frequency test tone) and M3(broadcast quality transmitter) factory modifications. It sounds MUCH better than my other 1000A that doesn't have the M3. What I used it for: In a past life. I reviewed FM tuners for Sounds Like and the Absolute Sound. I used this(along with a matching 1100A signal conditioner) ... moreas part of a local broadcast station so I could hear the difference between a direct turntable source and the tested tuner receiving the broadcast. Thanks to Spearit Sound in Northampton MA, I was able to test tuners on very high end systems.and you would not believe how musical a Marantz 10B sounds.I digress. I stopped writing in the early 90s. So this became a home transmitter, and has been in service as such up until about a month ago. I can tell you it works fine as a home transmitter; I never used it as an alignment generator nor do I own a scope so I cannot tell how well that part works. Please see my other auction for the matching 1100A signal conditioner. This is not required to use the 1000A as a local FM broadcast station. But it allows you to pick the pre-emphasis curves, control volume and balance, and use a moving magnet phono directly. Sound Technology 1100A Signal Conditioner. Typically used with the ST1000 FM Alignment Generator. See description below. This unit looks clean and original inside. Good outside except for sticker residue covering about half of one side. Unit powers up, power light glows. I don't have a working ST1000 so I cannot test further. Sound Technology ST-1000A
Selling off much of my ham and test gear due to disability. I am downsizing and selling my home this year. I have had this generator since the the early 2000s and I purchased on eBay. It was dead in the water(go figure) and I started poking around the power supply. Of course it was listed as fully operational. As expected. I found a capacitor had gone south. C82 was shot and C83 was not far behind. They were 1500mf 50V caps so I used 2 1000mf 50v caps in parallel to replace each cap. Normally I would mount them under the chassis on terminal strips and leave the old cans in. This thing had NO room to do so necessitating mounting them as shown in one of the pictures. I think I could have squeezed them in, however either myself or the next owner would most likely say unkind things about me if they needed replacement again. I also did the mod ... moredetailed by K6STI to improve the operational characteristics of the 400HZ and 1000HZ audio oscillators. This lowered the THD of the audio oscillator along with making it start up more readily. Anyone who has used a stock ST1000A knows how frustrating it can be. K6STI details usage and modifications for this unit and others. Just google his call and ST1000A. I used it for alignment of the stereo receivers that I used to restore. Did my last 2 Marantz receivers this month and I don't see a need for it any longer. Have used it little in the last year or so I decided to check it out prior to listing. As the photos demonstrate. It is pretty much still functions well so I didn't mess with it aside from cleaning the controls with DeOxit and preserving with DeOxit Gold. While I had it open I took a few pics showing the condition and the mentioned modifications. I did see a date painted on the power transformer however I forgot to take a picture. I think it was 1 Nov 1976 so that may be the date of the generator or just the transformer. That would be the oldest it could be at any rate. It also came with options 1& 2.
