So what’s so great about this old clunker you ask? Yes. The E-200D is an old clunker but it's a great little inexpensive signal generator. It has several features that set it apart from other cheapie generators: 1. It has a calibrated output that goes all the way down to 1 microvolt. 2. The internal shielding keeps signal from leaking out. 3. It has a crystal marker for setting the output frequency. The first two features allow using the E-200D to align sensitive receivers. Cheaper generators generally have poor shielding and so they leak lots of ... moresignal. If you run the output down to zero on a cheap generator. A sensitive receiver will still show a strong signal. Signal is leaking. Another nice feature of the E-200D is a crystal marker. Which lets you accurately set the output frequency. This Heathkit signal generator has dial markings for 100 KHz to 30 MHz in five ranges. So it would be useful from a bit above the audio range, through MW( medium wave) and SW( short wave) bands. The Step Attenuator is marked X1, X10, X100, X1K, X10K Microvolts. It has adjustable modulation, either internal or external. The meter has Carrier Level and% Modulation scales. I plugged it in. And could not get a signal out of it. The bulb in the green pilot light is good, but does not light up. I got an indication on the meter even though there was no output. It appears to be complete and in pretty good physical condition. The rubber feet on the bottom should be replaced. Internally. It looks very good and clean. I just don't have the time to repair it. EICO SIGNAL GENERATOR Model 324 w Test Leads&User Manual- Works!
This is a working 1950's EICO Model 324 Signal Generator. Frequency range is 150kc to 435mc in six bands. Having obtained this from an electronics trade school. It is in excellent cosmetic condition, as shown in the photos. Included are the test leads and the original EICO instruction manual. For testing, using a digital shortwave radio and the RF Ext Mod Selector, I was able to hear selected zero beat harmonics on various frequencies from 400khz to 30mhz. All harmonics were extremely close to the dial frequency on the signal generator. The Signal Selector switch is somewhat hard to turn, probably needs some lubrication.
