It needs lots of C and relatively low V to get it to lase, 1500uf at 750V using a cheap camera type flash lamp is plenty of juice. The primary pump bands are longer than 600nm so diode pumping is possible. With the current state of capacitor and battery designs, this could be built into a very neat portable laser project. This is a cavity optics set that was used with a small q-switched nd:yag laser. This set has a 20meter ROC and about 90% R on the OC mirror. Diameter is about 1/4 inch. These optics can be used to make a small but powerful Nd:yag laser using any of the small Nd:yag rods offered on ebay. The optics work fine with lamp pumped yag or with bigger YVO4 crystals. The 2x2x15mm bars from another ebay user will produce about 3 watts when pumped at 20W input 808nm with these optics. I have lots of lasers and other unique stuff for sale this week.
