South Bend 9"x24" Metal Lathe 2 Chucks Gunsmith Metal Cabinet
Used South Bend 9"X24" metal lathe with tooling. Powered by 110volt. Acessories and tooling: 5" 3 Jaw reversible chuck. 6" 4 Jaw chuck, 5" drive plate, lantern toolpost with 4ea holders, Quick change gearbox, original thread dial, and wrenches. The lathe is on the original cabinet with some dinges, scratches and minor dents. The ways average with a lip and scratches. The backlash is about 1/4 turn on all handles. The power feed and threading work fine. Lathe runs fine and all functions seem to work good. Spindle is 1 1/2" threaded, bore is about 7/8" The gears all look good no chipped teeth, and it has a new flat belt. There are scrapes on the compound from the chuck and the thread chart has dinges on it. Schaublin 70 Milling attachment with Drive Unit Aciera, Sixis
This is a complete milling setup for a Schaublin 70 lathe. The milling attachment itself locks onto the lathe compound with cam locking screws. It is calibrated Imperial/Inch. It is in original condition and original paint. Very little backlash and the slide shows little wear with most of the original scraping intact( please see photo's) This is the latest style humpback configuration and the spindle takes w12 collets. Accompanying the milling slide is a complete overhead drive unit. This motor is a special order upgraded unit which has a 700 RPM motor for high torque and slower speed then the 1700 RPM conventional grinding type motor which usually comes standard. This provides for a much more appropriate speed range for milling gears and other various milling operations. This unit is in excellent original condition as well. Included ... moreare all the original electronics and switch gear that was in the base unit of the lathe. An auxiliary outlet. Rubber mounting pad, original belt to drive the unit are also included. This is a plug and play unit, all that is needed is a plug to match your 3 phase 220 volt source. I have a movie with the unit running that I can send to interested parties. This unit new from Schaublin is still in current production and replacement cost is over $10.000. You rarely see late model Schaublin 70 milling attachments for sale especially in this condition and with the matching drive units. Very nice South Bend Light 10" Model A, lathe. It has a rare 54" gap bed that allows it to swing right at 15" It comes with a fair amount of tooling including a taper attachment, steady rest Jacobs No 14 drill chuck, live center, dog plate, lantern tool post, tool holders, 5" 3 jaw and a 6" four jaw chuck. 1 1/2" by 8 spindle threads and 55/64" between 3/4 and 7/8) through hole. The serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1960 and I don't believe it was ever more than a home shop machine. No apparent wear on the lead screw or bed. It runs quiet and smooth. Comes on a heavy duty stand. I could deliver it within 150 miles of Yreka, CA for a nominal fee.

It was purchased primarily to support a fabrication program that never materialized. The only previous owner was a gov. sub-contractor who had it in a maintenance and repair shop that closed in the early 1980's. This machine gets little use so it's time for it to find a new home. The known problems with the machine are: the end of the spindle control lever has been broken off. The coolant pump failed and was removed and the front half of the traveling chip guard is missing. Taper attachment, four position toolpost, original thread dial, micrometer stop, boring toolholder, taper attachment, and chip pan. The lathe has some dinges, scratches and minor dents. The ways look good, minor lip, with some scratches. The backlash is about 1/4 turn on all handles. The power feed and threading work fine. Lathe runs fine and all functions seem to work good.
