VINTAGE BAUSCH & LOMB DERMATOME? LATHE.ORIGINAL BOX. PATENT 1903. EX+ CONDITION!
I bought this at and estate sale that had many optical related items and had alwasy assumed it was some sort of lens cutting machine. But the only thing I could find that was similar to this was called a DERMATOME and is used for making skin grafts. If you know what this is, or if it is in fact a vintage DERMATOME, please let me know. Here is what I can tell you about this one. The tag is marked. PAT. MAY 19. 1903 NO. 5146 BAUSCH& LOMB OPTICAL CO. ROCHESTER. N.Y. It is in it's original carrying case which is a nice dovetailed box. There is some wear and scratches to the box. But the lathe itself is in excellent condition and there is a brand new set of blades in a box that came with the machine. Everything appears to work perfectly on this. Vintage Factory Workbench Industrial lathe stand cast iron legs base original
This is a no nonsense industrial workbench that once held a metal lathe. It is 6' long. 26 1/2" deep and the work surface is 32- 3/4" high. It is 37" high to the top of the surround. The legs are cast iron and the top is 2- 1/4" thick. It is built up from 5 layers of boards(see final photo) the inner layer is roughly 5/8" thick. The layers above and below are about the same, they are lap jointed. The outer layers are about 1/4" thick. Some of the top boards are warped, especially the two in the back(see 9th& 11th photos) Since the top layer is thin, this could probably be fixed with glue or fasteners. We have given this bench a quick cleaning and removed a lot of the grime and loose paint. But a little of both still remain. The cross bracing rods have some exposed rusted surfaces. There is a thin loose ... moreboard on the left back corner(see 5th photo) There are also some holes in the top, two to bolt down the lathe and one for the drive belt(a large motor was bolted to the lower shelf) At one time there was a drawer on the right side below the top, evidenced by unpainted wood(see 7th& 8th photos) The cast iron legs were designed for the X bracing and carriage bolted skirt board on the back(see 5th photo) This bench is rock solid. 14x40" high precision metal lathe wood lathe (6 months old)
This lathe was delivered brand new to us in Sept 2012. Orig cost was $4793 with all carbide inserts. We barely used this lathe and are going a different direction. So now we are selling it. This 3 phase 240 volt but only uses about 3 amps. It is wired with a locking plug for USA use. If you only have 2 phase electric you can use a phase converter to get 3 phases. Or swap out the motor. Up for auction is this automatic bar loader from Tornos. It is currently connected to a Tornos ENC 162 CNC screw machine which is not included in the auction. Just the bar loader is. The company is selling it due to a new machine they bought and need to make room for it. The Tornos ENC 162 will be stored else where in the shop and used as a parts machine. We do operate another ENC 162 machine and some parts are no longer available. The bar loader does work. Its just that the new machine has it's own bar loader. The operators manual is included. All the hyd. controls and pulleys are gone! This is a really amazing little vertical lathe. If you don't get this one. I doubt you will ever see another. It has a ten-inch table that rotates and is belt driven by the attached motor. As far as I know, there are no breaks, cracks, brazes or welds, but there is no warranty either. It has simply sat unused in my shop since I bought it in a private auction lot a number of years ago. It is heavy for its size. Just so you know in advance. If you want this item shipped, you will need to make ALL of the arrangements for pickup, payments etc. If you want it on a pallet, the fee is $50. If you want it crated, the fee is $165. Approx 6500 pounds. Very heavy built, straight true, better than current Chinese 3500 pounds lathes. Control systems is a PC-based Anilam(still made) Very nice conversational interface and it pretty much adheres to Fanuc G-codes(minimizes POST issues from your CAM system) CNC controlled 3 geared headstock allows for very good range of speed for virtually any application. In addition to gears(31 to 3100 RPM) The motor(10 HP 3 phase) is CNC controlled for accurate speeds. Although this lathe does not have fixed tapping cycles[it does include Thread cycles] I have used a tap in flexible holder with no problem. Unimat DB200 Desktop Lathe & Lots Of Accessories Good Condition
I am selling my Unimat DB200 desktop lathe. I have recently moved up to a slightly larger lathe so this one is now extra. The footprint is approximately 9" x 17" There are specs on the lathe here: I have used it occasionally for the past 20ish years making model train parts. It has served me well. You can see how clean it is. I have never used any cutting oils on it so it is not an oily mess. I literally used it in my spare bedroom for many years. Since I have a workshop now I have room to have a larger lathe set up permanently. Note the many parts and accessories that are included. T here is a brand new carbide lathe cutter bit included. It still has the wax on the tip. The post and geared handle make it convertible to a desktop milling machine are included. There are also some parts included to cut threads.
