It appears to be in good condition with great detail. This cut has not been cleaned or polish and Buyer may wish to do so. The metal engraving appears to be made of copper. However, I do not know what the exact metal make-up is. There appears to be rust residue or color around some of the tacks used to mount the engraving. 1887 Wood Type Printers Block 2-1/2” Carnival Letter E
This is from my Father’s print shop which originally was my Grandfather’s who had a printing business in the early 1900s. My Father used it through the 40s 50s. And these items have been lying around ever since. This is an old antique carnival or circus style) wood letterpress letter“E” which measures 2-1/2” high, a tad over 1” wide and the usual type high(almost 15/16” It was in a type drawer that had various letters, including an“A” which was incised“PATENTED DECEMBER 20, 1887” see 2nd pic as reference) so I am guessing it must have come from my grandfathers print shop in the late 1800s or early 1900s. I cleaned it up a little but not too much because some buyers/collectors prefer them to have that old used look with a little residue(patina) still on them showing some history.
