Huge Lot - Vintage Letterpress Metal Type Plate - Letters, Numbers, Punctuation
Here for your consideration is a huge lot of metal(I believe brass but not sure) type plate. As the photos reveal. Every letter and number and punctuation mark is represented in many different sizes. I am assuming the letter"o" and number"zero" are interchangeable as are the numbers"6" 9" The final photo shows that I have packaged the letters, symbols and numbers separately so they will be easier to work with when they arrive. And I will warn you this is a very heavy lot! Please study the photos carefully since all my vintage items are sold"as found" and I do not accept returns. Scales McKesson small round copper plate printing block letterpress unknown
Howdy Folks, Hope all is well. Up for your viewing or auctioning pleasure is a printing block. The picture is of the scales of justice. McKesson Quality since 1833? is what is written on the small round copper block. Marked with a"7" on the wood block. No other markings. Since it is a used printing block there could be some scratches and scuffs and nicks. I used some never dull to clean it up a little. However they will need to be cleaned better. Remember that it is used and will need a better cleaning. Folks please refer to the pictures for more description. Measures about 13/16" x 13/16" and about 7/8" deep. Note: some of the pictures I used a flash. So that's why some are so bright and gold looking. If you have questions or need more pictures please let us know. How to get the most value of Money - copper plate printing block letterpress
This listing is for(1) Printing Block as seen in the pictures above. This is a old Printing block. I found a nice group of these in a box i got from a local estate sale. I will be listing them all today. I am not sure of their exact age but one of the printing blocks in the box was marked( Dec 86' and i assume due to the aged look and feel it is 1886 but i can not say that for sure. Most of the blocks were different and in varying conditions. Some had wood backs and some did not. The way you are seeing it is exactly as i found it. I did not clean it at all because i did not want to potentially hurt the collector value or remove the old patina from the item. The plates show everything backwards so when the ink is placed on the paper it is readable. The plate shows signs of ware and storage from the years and being used.
