The operation of this vintage David white grade rod has no issues and in fact slides up& down with ease. The only issue I see is that the marking of the 14" ruler at the very tip is just starting to come off but still quite intact[ last photo. it needs a little glue to hold it down] No issue with the wood or the clamps. No scratches on lens or Eyepiece Wooden Tripod has a little white paint at top of two legs as seen in photos. Wooden measuring rods painted numbers have flaked off in some places. See photos. Packaging the transit level with bubble wrap in the wood box and the wood box with bubble wrap in a shipping box is not a problem for me but the packaging for the tripod and measuring rod maybe a little tricky. I prefer to use more packaging then necessary to keep items from being damaged. At auction is this superb surveyor's rod. It comes in 3 pieces that slide together. When fully extended. The overall length is 14 feet. When collapsed. The overall length is 66 inches. I do not find a manufacturer's name or any other nomenclature on the item. Made of hard wood and sturdy hardware to hold it together. Photos 7, 8 and 9 show the sides and the rear of this item. Large numbers and clear graduations. This item is previously owned and has very slight usage, but for all intents and purpose it is unused. I found it in a warehouse, the contents of which were being sold as estate items.

This is a model 6520 Dietzen surveyor's elevation measuring grade rod. Nice older oak and metal(some brass) surveyor's measuring stick. The rod has Dietzen# 6520 noted on one side of the stick. The piece was made in the USA. The stick still has a nice face with yellow background on it. No split or missing pieces that we can ascertain.
