Vintage 60 " Wooden Tripod May Be David White or Keuffel Esser Examine Photos
Brass& Wood(Oak? Surveyor's Tripod 3 1/2 by 8 with legs 5 feet or 60"s tall There are no makers marks left on this tripod. It appears to be made by David White after looking on e-bay at others of it's kind(a real close look may show a small part of a red decal) It was used on a Sokkisha transit so it may even be a Keuffel& Esser. I don't know. The only markings that are left on it are the serial number of 74867 and the thread size stamped on the head of 8 3/12 and the numbers on the ground spikes of 298-3. The thread cap appears to have been replaced as it appeared to be made of plastic but it could be bakelite which might make it original. I wish I could give you more but if you know about these things you should be able to identify it's maker with all of the pictures I posted. It is model number 90095-5 and comes complete with it's canvas storage bag. It is in perfect working condition and is cosmetically appealing. The wood is in very good condition, varnished and free from cracks and dents. There is one place where there is a chip of wood missing, but beyond that, it is a fine specimen. The extension legs are reversible, one end has spikes for stability in soil and the other has rubber feet. It has an ability to adjust to infinite heights and positions. The top mount has markings around the edge indicating 360 degrees. The canvas bag has rigid ends, a zipper closure, canvas straps and it's own part number, 90186.2. Well. Unfortunately I hadn't found t hese items when I sold the ancient"David White" transit scope last year on eBay. I tried to find them but they had been stored apart from the scope. I believe that my father had picked them up as a set many years ago. However. I can't find the identification stamps or labels on either item. I AM sure that the David White transit mounted onto the tripod because I saw that myself. I think we had dated the transit at about 50 or 60 years old so that's my guess on these items. I know very little about surveying and equipment so the pictures will replace any more description I might have. Feel free to ask me any questions tho. The tripod legs are 5ft tall and composed of 2 steel. Or maybe heavy aluminum. Hollow bars. It is model number 90095-5 and comes complete with it's canvas storage bag. It is in perfect working condition and is cosmetically appealing. The wood is in very good condition, varnished and free from cracks and dents. There is one place where there is a chip of wood missing, but beyond that, it is a fine specimen. The extension legs are reversible, one end has spikes for stability in soil and the other has rubber feet. It has an ability to adjust to infinite heights and positions. The top mount has markings around the edge indicating 360 degrees. The canvas bag has rigid ends, a zipper closure, canvas straps and it's own part number, 90186.2. I have not been able to find any other 3' sections of Post Perma-Clad Range Poles on the internet only 4' sections!
