The tripod has scratches/scuffs, and some paint is missing in spots as I tried to depict in the pictures. The level on the end of the accessory still works great. This looks to be well taken care of. It appears that it was kept inside the case most of the time as most of the paint is still in very good shape. The wood en edges have a finish on them as well. Leitz Sokkisha surveyor tripod, Aluminum, orange
Leitz Sokkisha aluminum tripod for theodolites and transits. 3.5" opening x 8 threads fits older equipment(check my listings for the vintage 1950's Keuffel and Esser transit that was on it) 68" tall at extension. 41" closed down. The paint is flaking, but the orange aluminum is still bright. There's obvious wear on the legs but all open and close smoothly, all the knobs grab. Carry strap is gone, but attachment point is still there to add a new one. Still a workable tripod OR make it into a lamp. A good wire brushing would work wonders on this. Threads are good, protector is on it. Have no idea of model number, can't find one on it. No idea of age, but under one leg there is 5-17-3.maybe date, maybe serial number, I do not know. Construction Tripod Surveyor's Builder's Extendable Aluminum with carrying strap
This is an orange-and-gray construction tripod. Also known as a surveyor's tripod. It is about three feet long when fully folded and compacted, and approximately 6 inches in diameter at the top. When extended to its maximum height, it is roughly five feet tall. See pictures 1, 2, and 5, where a yardstick is shown for scale. It is in good condition. On the top. There is a hand-turnable bolt that fastens standard equipment such as a builder's level, a laser level, or other items to the top. The three feet have small spikes that can be pushed down into dirt, and can be locked together when the item is in storage. It has a carrying strap on one side, and weighs between 9 and 10 pounds.
