Vintage 60 " Wooden Tripod May Be David White or Keuffel Esser Examine Photos
Brass& Wood(Oak? Surveyor's Tripod 3 1/2 by 8 with legs 5 feet or 60"s tall There are no makers marks left on this tripod. It appears to be made by David White after looking on e-bay at others of it's kind(a real close look may show a small part of a red decal) It was used on a Sokkisha transit so it may even be a Keuffel& Esser. I don't know. The only markings that are left on it are the serial number of 74867 and the thread size stamped on the head of 8 3/12 and the numbers on the ground spikes of 298-3. The thread cap appears to have been replaced as it appeared to be made of plastic but it could be bakelite which might make it original. I wish I could give you more but if you know about these things you should be able to identify it's maker with all of the pictures I posted. No scratches on lens or Eyepiece Wooden Tripod has a little white paint at top of two legs as seen in photos. Wooden measuring rods painted numbers have flaked off in some places. See photos. Packaging the transit level with bubble wrap in the wood box and the wood box with bubble wrap in a shipping box is not a problem for me but the packaging for the tripod and measuring rod maybe a little tricky. Unique 14' KEUFFEL & ESSER, K+E, Frisco Transit Survey Level Grade Rod
Very cool measuring stick model# 6278-A. It is 14' and folds in half. Basically like carrying two 2x4's around. Once stood up there is a hook that locks the two pieces together. Great decorator piece but I'm sure it could still be used for surveying if you chose to. Hard to get a pic that shows just how bold the colors are against the white background. The wood casing is in good condition with some nicks and scratches. Additional postage will apply if shipped outside the lower 48 states.
