But all the bits and bobs seem to be 100% functional, and there are no apparent cracks or anything beyond cosmetic scratches. I bought this tripod new from B&H in January of this year for a trip I won't be taking. It was opened and checked for function, but was never used or take outdoors. This is a Sony 100% Original VCT-14 Quick Release Tripod Plate Adapter Note the VCT-14 is the High-End Broadcast version of the VCT-U14 that is more common and has been copied extensively by Chinese manufacturers as a knock off. The VCT-14 is made in Japan to strict Broadcast Standards. And is only supplied with the Sony High-End cameras and camcorders. The VCT-14 features spring loaded back tension as well as the front load. Not available on the U14 other model. See pictures. This tripod plate has very little use.
