Vintage 60 " Wooden Tripod May Be David White or Keuffel Esser Examine Photos
Brass& Wood(Oak? Surveyor's Tripod 3 1/2 by 8 with legs 5 feet or 60"s tall There are no makers marks left on this tripod. It appears to be made by David White after looking on e-bay at others of it's kind(a real close look may show a small part of a red decal) It was used on a Sokkisha transit so it may even be a Keuffel& Esser. I don't know. The only markings that are left on it are the serial number of 74867 and the thread size stamped on the head of 8 3/12 and the numbers on the ground spikes of 298-3. The thread cap appears to have been replaced as it appeared to be made of plastic but it could be bakelite which might make it original. I wish I could give you more but if you know about these things you should be able to identify it's maker with all of the pictures I posted. The operation of this vintage David white grade rod has no issues and in fact slides up& down with ease. The only issue I see is that the marking of the 14" ruler at the very tip is just starting to come off but still quite intact[ last photo. it needs a little glue to hold it down] No issue with the wood or the clamps. Vintage David White Instruments ? 9'6" Surveyor Level Grade Rod.
I think this is a vintage David White Instruments surveyor's wooden Grade Rod. I am not sure of the maker because I could not find a label. I think the big numbers on the back were put on by the last owner. The grade rod is calibrated in inches. Is 9.5 feet tall and was used on a farm. Construction surveyors use tents of a foot instead of inches. I do not know how old it is but I think it is vintage because it is made of wood. Vtg David White Transit Surveying Level w/Case working tool vintage optical
Older instrument that I have used several time. Needs to be fine tuned on the level adjustment. Always close enough for my work. Cross hairs set at an angle, must be loose somehow and I never tied to fix as it worked, just a bit concerting when you first look through it. Anyway, you can use it or fix it up some more. David White Meriden; does angles of elevation and depression. Well worth my starting bid. Pretty clean looking tool, dispite case damage.
