These sanders were made by State Manufacturing. They are heavy industrial grade sanders. The oscillating spindle sander is the model B-4. Serial number 4489. The disc sander is a 15" sander. Both are three phase. Both sanders run fine and are very clean. The table tops on both have been well taken care of. They do not have any deep gouges or scratches in them. All functions work well. Working, 48" dual drum sander that oscillates both heads. the finish is beautiful when complete. the panel and wiring has all been redone and as you can see is not a hack job. the panel and wiring alone was a $1000. the panel feeds off of a 110volt supply so its safe to turn the panel on without the risk of being shocked. we have run up to a 46" slab through the sander and it doesn't even hesitate. the company before us used it to sand down fencing as they were installers and made their own. it has been maintained and comes with a few boxes of extra sand paper for the drums. all the tools needed to change the paper are also included in the sale. we are also a hauling company and are willing to haul the sander to you for an additional charge depending on your location. Boice Crane Oscillating Spindle Sander w/ Three Throat Plates& One Spindle After looking through old Boice Crane catalogs. It's hard to tell whether this machine is 80 years old, or only 40. But it's old. It runs beautifully, though. However, I hadn't noticed when I first listed it, but the teeth on the table trunnion are stripped at the level position, as if someone forced the crank without loosening the bolts. I've lowered the starting price accordingly. This machine has oil in it. Which makes it unsuitable for ground shipping. I could try to drain it, but chances are there will be just enough left inside to make a mess. Freight would be the way to go, or I can deliver within 150 miles of 01844 for $0.75 a mile round trip. Or, you can pick it up in person.

MAX VS1 Oscillating Spindle Sander (Single-Phase Motor)
I completely refurbished this MAX VSI spindle sander and I did not cut any corners whatsoever. I used MAX components for all the replacements parts. MAX is still operating and producing this sander but I believe they are owned by another company( possibly Tannewitz? All the bearings were replaced and I used 2 very expensive oil seals for the oil bath as well. T he oil bath really did its job and prevented any wear as the internal gear mechanism looks and functions as if brand new. Additionally. I replaced a number of small items like the oil bath window. Brass air vent, etc. The finish is Hammerite which is tough as nails and looks absolutely beautiful. The sander was stripped back to bare metal and the finish was professionally applied. I put a 1HP 220 Volt, Single-Phase motor in the machine. This GE motor was brand new and sells for around ... more$350- it is an industrial quality motor meant for very rugged conditions. Also. If you look closely you will see a few nice details- like stainless steel bolts with brass washers and an ultra nice REES pushbutton start/stop switch. In short. This is not only a beautiful looking sander in showroom condition but a functional powerhouse as well. The MAX is absolutely whisper quiet and the motor is strong enough to handle whatever you can throw at the machine. This sander utilizes a long#2 Morse taper with safety loc threads. The spindles are in great condition. I have the 3 throat plate and all the spindles except for the 1/4" and 3/4" I have a Grizzly G1071 Oscillating Spindle Sander and I can tell you that the quality of this MAX is just leagues above the Grizzly. The MAX is made in America and sells for just under $6k new. I am selling the MAX because I would like to do more refurbishing work. I really enjoyed the process and would like to restore some more MAX spindle sanders and disk sanders- maybe even some old jointers and bandsaws as well.
