KOMO VR-508 CNC Router
We're the second owners of this machine and have had it since 2004. It has been used on and off over that time to machine polypropylene sheets. It has been in almost daily(weekdays) use in that capacity for the past several months. We're getting a larger machine delivered in the next week or two and need this router removed when the new one arrives. Make: Komo Model: VR 508 Year: 1992 Runtime Hours: 3924(this is displayed in the control but this seems impossibly low– maybe it was reset at some point) Table: 2” x 5’ x 8’ aluminum table with ½-13 threaded holes on 6” x 6” grid While it serves our machining purposes all is not well with the machine. Known defects: no vacuum system(table or pump) one spindle inoperative- not sure what the problem with it is. It has been inop since we got the machine; spare motor in a crate came with ... morethe machine but I’m unsure of its condition- leaks in the way oil system- as we fix them new ones appear. Oil on occasion drips onto table- spindle drive issues– a component on the AC spindle drive had to be replaced 3 years ago. Since then M05 commands don’t stop the spindle they just cut power to it and it slowly spins to a stop- control keyboard is the membrane type and many buttons are worn and cracked. Reset” especially so and look like it could fail at any moment. remote pedestal cord is severed- often when power and air supply are off the head will drop below the lower limit switch if left unsupported. When turned back on control will display“401 servo drive alarm” and/or“Z+ over-travel alarm” when homing- because there is no vacuum system a warning appears at the start of each cycle that the vacuum pressure is low. I assume there’s a parameter to correct this but have gotten used to double-tapping cycle start so have left it as is. when program is reset and rerun“alarm 011” will always appear. Feed rate must be entered in MDI. Run, reset and then program reset for machine to work. Obviously the machine is being sold as-is without any warranties or guaran

This sale is for a 3 axis CNC router built by Standard Router in 1996. It is a heavy duty machine with a 48" x 48" routing area that is divided into two vacuum sections. The machine is designed to use three(3) seperate 7.5 hp Colombo spindles. There is no tool changer. The machine is currently in use and will continue to remain in use until sold. We currently use just one spindle which is new and was installed in October 2011. A second. Used spindle is included in the sale. Zen Toolworks CNC DIY KIT 7x7 Controller and Spindle Motor
I bought this machine about 1 year ago but upgraded to a larger machine sense. It works well has 3 stepper motors(x y z) Controller(which controls the steppers from a pc parralel port I wired in the controller to turn the spindle motor on and off. It is missing the spindle chuck but i am sure it can be bought inexpensively I packaged the controller in a nice box to keep it all enclosed. added some limit switches to keep the machine from killing itself as well as homing. added an emergency stop switch for safety. I used it about 4 times to make various plastic pieces as well as a carved sign for my office. Please bid only if you know how to set this one up I can offer only minimal support.
