MAGNETEK GPD 403 A0P7.75 HP(3 AMP) For those of you with a need for a forward/reverse. Variable speed motor control, this is a good way to go. But with most of the currently available controls, along with that capability comes a bunch of other features. I've had a long history with the earlier MAGNETEK/ YASKAWA motor controls. at one time or another I've had almost the whole GPD line in use in my shop and I've always had top service from them) I guess I'm'old school' but for a lot of my shop operations I feel much more comfortable with'analog' controls.faster for me to make instant'on line' changes and adjustments. Some of the features available to the 403 line are: full torque(power) at virtually any speed(up to twice the motors' rated speed) and variations you can choose for different applications ... moreand needs. I constantly use the ramp up/ ramp down speed settings; if I'm doing a sanding operation on small parts with very little mass(an example is sanding flutes in both forward and reverse directions to clean the edges of the cut on wooden kitchen utensils) I set the ramping feature for perhaps 1-2 seconds from high speed forward to stop to high speed reverse. Then I just flip the toggle from'forward run' to'reverse run' and that's all.the change in direction and'ramping' is automatic. lf I'm doing the same kind of operation on a large piece(say. 15" dia X 84" long, that maybe weighs 300 lbs, I can set the ramp-to-stop feature to up to 2 minutes( to accommodate the stopping and reversing of a much larger mass.and all with the single flip of a toggle switch. These controls are set up to accept limit switches for change of operations as well as counters and timers, and even have 5-10 volt transformer source should you need it) One of the features I use often is the AUTOMATIC variable speed during a single pass. Here we have an antique wood lathe sizing tool in nice vintage condition.This opens to a max of about 2 3/4" and is about 18 3/4 long. With the opening closed it is about 16" long. Looks like M466? stamped into it other than that I cannot see any other markings. Has 1 small hairline crack just above the brass ring on handle. Seems very sturdy. This is a cart made by delta for a wood lathe. It had spent its life with a 1460 delta lathe on it. That was a hard life for this cart, it worked but almost too heavy for this. Inside measures 58-3/4"x 20-3/4" Has two stationary wheels on one end and one swivel wheel that pushes down to raise cart on other end. Blount Wood Turning Lathe (patternmaker's?)
This is a very sturdily built wood lathe. It is on the order of a metalworking lathe for style. Build, and the type of ways it has. Still, it is a genuine wood lathe. The motor is 440 volt 3 phase, and has four speeds: 600, 900, 1200, and 1800 rpm. The motor is 2 hp. I have a video of it running(very brief, not turning any wood in it) that can email if you want to see it. It swings about 18" over the ways, and about 14 or 15 over the cross slide. The motor is direct drive, and the motor is the live headstock spindle. This is a section of an old Chestnut fence rail that has been salvaged and is now offered to you for whatever your imagination brings forth. It is solid and bug free. From what I have found out, it is hand turned all natural burl wood complete with all wood organics, knot holes and defects. The even surfaces are very smooth. It measures 7 1/2" tall and 7" in diameter at the widest part. The vase alone weighs about 3.25 pounds. It is beautiful and these type natural pieces are always one of a kind. Up for bid is a Craftsman 12 inch wood lathe. It is a 1 full HP lathe and has adjustable speeds. It will swing up to 12 inch in diameter. The distance between centers is about 36 inches long. The ways appear to be made of cast iron. This is a nice lathe. The ways come apart to make for a smaller length lathe but when assembled with 2 bolts gives you the distance you need.
