I have for auction an antique metal/ wood working lathe. I think it is a Barnes lathe but I am not sure. Looking, On the internet I also saw a lathe like this that was tagged New rogers. One thing I am sure of is the chuck is a D E whiton. The headstock is spinning freely. The tailstock is working fine. The carriage assembly is missing parts, gears, so currently it will not self feed. I think over time some one used this as a wood lathe. There is two tool rest, the larger rest is a cam like lock that fits perfectly on the ways of the bed. The tools, parts, have all beed repainted at some point. Arcade Table Top Hobby Lathe 15 A1. As with most items I sell. This is part of a liquidation from a local estate. Please help me out by closely reviewing the pics to best judge what you are bidding on. Description: Arcade Table Top Hobby Lathe 15 A1 with attachments. Cast Iron base approximately 15" wide. 10.5" deep, weighing in at 21 pounds. Powered by a Chicago Electric( RPM and HP not specified on the motor) 110 volt motor. I powered it on and ran it for about 20 minutes. It appears to be working. please see the short video following this description) I did not actually try to use it. So I do not know how accurate it may be, or how well it may work. I suspect it was originally intended for very light duty hobby work. Maybe for the model builder or a juvenile entry level type tool. Some folks might call it a toy. I'm not sure ... morewhat attachments were available. I'm sure many are not included with this lathe. Exposed bare metal parts have a rusty looking patina. Painted surfaces have scratching and blotchy discoloration throughout. Up for your bidding consideration is this very nice 1959 Shopsmith Mark 5 multi wood shop tool and accessories(serial#355970) This tool is in overall very good to excellent original condition and shows little signs of usage. This tool starts and works as it should and the variable speed feature works wonderfully. It comes with the table saw. Drill press, lathe and disk sander options and is ready for any other compatable Shopsmith accessory. None of the castings are chipped, cracked, broken, split or previously repaired, to the best of my knowlege. It will need a complete cleaning and service before it should be out into service. The casters/wheels all operate as they should, with no cracked, broken, seized or flattened wheels. The paint is 100% original and shows little if any paint loss. The only thing I see that may need some added attention ... moreis the light surface rust on the bare metal round main rails. Its not bad, but with a bit of buffing and a touch of lube, I'm certain it will be great. What you see in the provided pictures is exactly what you are bidding on. Mid Century Modern Lathe Turned Wood Nut Bowl Scandinavian Bulls Eye Finial
Mid Century Modern Lathe Turned Nut Bowl This is a gorgeous bowl. Calling it a nut bowl sounds kind of dorky to me. This bowl has such a sculptural feel to it. I did clean it. It had a thick. Nasty, irregular coating of oil on it. First photo is of the bowl before cleaning. I also removed the moth eaten green felt but have a piece of it if buyer interested. I coated the bowl with mineral oil and rubbed as much off. The bowl is beautifully turned. The rim is very thin. The graining is very nice. The finial has a bull's eye pattern on top. A couple little nicks in the rim. I guess whoever was cracking nuts whacked the rim. There are also a couple of really small indentation in the bottom of the inside of the bowl. There is also a 1 1/2"crack in the bowl which was glued. Minor damages overall. Diameter of the bowl is 26 cm. Height is ... more10 cm and 11 cm including post/finial. Base is 19 cm in diameter and the post/finial is 3 cm. Because of the spot on metric measurements I think this bowl is Scandinavian in origin. That Danish Modern style.
