Antique Buffalo Scale Co. Brass Made USA Sliding Mechanical
At almost 19" this antique hanging scale is pretty long. There seems to be some distressing/sanding from a previous owner. Most of the silver plating is gone. However. It's got a Wild West kind of look to it(most likely from pre-1900) I love the Buffalo Scale Co. Logo. You might notice there holes are drilled in the bottom of the sliding weights, not sure if they are meant manipulate the weight or make it accurate. This Penn bakers scale is in good working condition as I have tested it's accuracy with my own scale. You will need to buy a scoop( or use a bowl) and counter weights which are readily available. But that is a small price to pay compared to the up to and more than $400.00 which you can pay for a new one. This one has a heavy cast base which measures 12 1/2" by 5 1/2" the platters are 9" across and the length from platter end to platter end is 20" It was manufactured with this white powder coating and there is some missing paint around the rims of the platters. Great classic vintage toy train set- 5 piece. Very nice condition for a toy that is 60 years old. See Pictures! Fully functional and tested but needs a wind up key. One spot of rust on the engine cab(see pic) Dusty and a few light scratches(see pics) also one rust spot on the floor of one coal car. I did not clean this up for the pictures but I did wipe off the engine, for the two close ups of it alone.
