This 1898 antique scale has porcelain plates. And is in very good condition. This Ohaus scale was manufactured by Newark Scale Works in Newark, New Jersey. It has a 2 kilo capacity. The scale does work; however, it is off slightly off. It may be able to be adjusted; however, I just add a little weight to the lighter plate to balance it. This double beam scale once belonged to the Denver Fire Clay Company out of Denver, Colorado. The scale does have USA-1898 inscribed in the base. It can be removed or touched up, if the buyer prefer.
