Center to center is about 3 5/8ths and you can squeeze the u bolt in about half inch to resize for you holes or out about 1 inch. Rare Vintage Opium Weight Collection Elephants set of five
Bronze Elephant Weight Due to their popularity and past limited production compared to Burmese opium weights. Elephant weights are one of the rarest forms of weights found today in SE Asia. This weight has head decoration and the sign is on the front in contrast to the side. While elephant weights are found occasionally in Laos, Burma and Yunnan, there is little doubt that the elephant weights origins was in north-west Siam, the former Lan-Na kingdom of Siam(Thailand) and not Laos, the former Lan Chang. It’s thought that elephant weights made their first appearance in Siam as early as 1581AD. By the 1800s a variety of animal weights were in use and even traded as currency and include birds, snakes, buffalo, rabbits, dogs, horses and monkeys. Elephant weights were cast in Phongsali, northern Laos, and Siam. It is agreed that the animal weights ... moreof Siam and Laos were generally much less accurate than Burmese weights. Been a few years but set was last calibrated by Troemner. All weights except the 10 gram weight have double hooks.You can hang the weight or sit the weight on scales and the other hook recesses in the base of the weight except for 10 gram weight. The storage base for the set is in good shape but the cardboard storage box for the set is rough. This product came from a lab that closed down approximately 10 years ago. antique German brass scale weight weights apothecary wood velour set box gold
This is an exquisite antique 19th century set of brass scale weights. the weights are set in a stunning handmade wooden box which is lined with purple velour…even under the weights. it is marked underneath"Made in Germany" and has nice bronze hardware on the front. the larger weights are made of solid brass and marked with weight measurements on the top of each. the smaller weights sit under a thick removable piece of glass and each have their own slots. in the front is a pair of tweezers to grab the small weights. the set is most likely made for measuring precious metals. it looks like a complete set but the tweezers are a tight fit and not sure if they are original the box measures 5 by 3 1/2 inches. in good shape.
