Chatillon's Improved Spring Balance, nice vintage weight scale
Up for auction is a old Chatillon's weight scale. The face and rivets of the scale looks to be made of brass and the rest is made of steel. It seems to work just fine and is in great shape. I see one corn is bent over a little(easy fix) and has nothing to do with its working condition. I have two of these type scale listed and could put them in one box if you purchase both of them. This is a very old scale that belonged to my grandfather. He was a farmer in the 1880's until the 1950's and this was found in a box of"old things" and am not sure about the date. The scale is 0- 24 lbs spring balanced type and on the back it says"Warranted-the symbol of a Bird in Flight- and Ballanced" I assume that the BIRD was some companies logo. DESCRIPTION OF THIS ITEM: A Coca-Cola can or other object placed in the picture- is to assist you in determining visual scale. Vintage John Chatillon& Son NYC balance scale with a 12 pound capacity. This scale has an unusual stepped down appearance the more common ones don't have this design. This scale is 8-1/2" high. And 7" by 8"measured at the base. It weighs about 8 pounds.
