1978 FENDER PRECISION BASS GUITAR BLACK LEFTY LEFT HANDED MAPLE NECK MADE IN USA
Here's my old 1978 MADE IN USA left handed Fender Precision Bass. This has been in my stable for many many years. The bass was gigged weekly in the 1980s but since then it has not been played much at all. The bass is all original. The black finish has its share of scuffs and marks in it. The finish on the back of this bass is very dull. Like the finish was imprinted by the felt in the lining of the case. A lot of the 70's Fenders suffer from this for some reason. The black finish was very difficult to photograph. There are empty screw holes on the front surface from me removing the original thumb rest and bridge cover. I don't have any of the missing parts. The handle broke off the case years ago. Same with one of the case locks. The original case handle and the broken parts of the case lock are included. The case is a bit awkward ... moreto carry with the handle missing, but it stays closed securely with the three remaining clasps. The body of the bass has no big dents or dings in it. I have uploaded many photos to try to show the condition of the finish. The neck is in super nice condition and has a real nice high gloss finish thats typical for a 70's Fender. The photos make the neck look very light. Its actually a much richer amber tinted finish that has yellowed with age. The only issues with the neck that I noticed is that it has one small nick in the finish on the headstock right under the second S in BASS and there is a small worn spot on the edge of the neck right about where your thumb would rest if you were playing in open E. I HAVE RECEIVED E-MAILS WANTING TO SEE THE NECK POCKET SO I REMOVED THE NECK AND PHOTOGRAPHED IT. WHILE I HAD THE NECK OFF I POLISHED THE FRETS. THEY CAME OUT LIKE NEW. RARE 1962 Blond Slab Board, Ash Body, Fender Precision Bass
For sale is a 50 year old 1962 Precision. It is an ash body blond. With the translucent finish. The ash body has it's nicks and scrapes, and wear, but over all, it's in good condition. The nail holes in the body reveal it has never been refinished. The finish has yellowed, but can appear to be Olympic White in certain lighting. The complete harness is a replacement, but is period correct from another 1962 Precision. The shield under the guard is a repro and had to be modified to fit, due to the guard shrinkage. The neck is one of the last slabs to leave the factory in mid 62, and is in excellent shape, with minor fret wear, and looks like it wore flats all her life. It has a commonly seen shallow hairline crack from the E-tuner screw, which hasn't worsened in the 10 years I've had it and doesn't not affect playability. ... moreThe decal on the headstock is flaking some. It weighs 8.2 lbs. This bass sounds and plays like a dream, and was previously owned by Conrad Lozano of Los Lobos. Historic Rare Vintage Electric Fender Precision Bass Guitar 1953 Prototype relic
This is a(factory) modified 1953 Fender Precision Bass and case. A well known east-coast vintage guitar dealer purchased this bass from the estate of a Roger Binette. Who worked in the recording industry and who knew Tavares as a friend. As the story goes, Binette purchased the bass from Tavares as a memento and Tavares told him that the bass had been at the fender factory was used for testing new colors. Unfortunately there is no documentation signed by Tavares to firmly establish provenance. The bass’ neck bears the year date of 1953 and the bridge plate the number 0840. It is of interest that this bass was noted in the 1996 edition of the famous James Werner- Fender Serial Number List. It could be assumed that Binette sent the information. The instrument itself bears unusual features: an odd squared-off lower cutaway. Thin Lucite pickguard ... morepainted white underneath and made to appear more like a Stratocaster(and closer to the 1957 version of the Fender bass) and finally, an attempt at contouring the body. The neck features a mid-1960“Precision Bass” decal. The body is very worn revealing a succession of finish colors including Lake Placid Blue, Shoreline Gold and Dakota Red. Anyone familiar with the history of Fender guitars can surmise that there is more to this story. Freddie Tavares was hired by Leo Fender in 1953 and was asked to assist in designing the company’s new"Stratocaster" guitar. A follow-up to the"Telecaster" It stands to reason that the company would want their"Precision Bass" to complement the new model and alter its appearance to better match. To accomplish this, Tavares used this bass to redesign the pickguard(making it appear more Strat-like) and experiment with body contours. In taking this theory further– Fender probably postponed the bass redesign when the Stratocaster experienced initial production problems; so in the mean time this bass sat around the factory and was subjected to special paint jobs until it was retired to Tavares’ use. FENDER PRECISION P BASS VINTAGE 1978-1981 WITH HARD SHELL CASE
Up for sale is this vintage Fender made in the USA P Bass. The serial number is: S 906821 I was told it was a 1978 but the product dating portion of the fender website places the serial number production date at being between 1978-1981. It is completely stock with the exception of the replacement Leo Quan Badass II bridge and the schaller strap buttons. The frets are in good shape and there is minimal cosmetic wear due to the age of course. The hard shell case is included. I can ship to the US only on this one and shipping cost will be $54 via UPS. I will take the neck off the guitar prior to shipping to add extra protection. A tracking number will be provided to the buyer. FENDER AMERICAN PRECISION BASS ELITE CLEAN AND RARE!
Up for you consideration is a rare 1983 Fender American Precision Elite bass. In great used condition. The finish is sort of a silver burst shade with a white/cream pick guard and pickups. It has a robust active EQ and a wide. But very fast neck. It exhibits a very versatile tonal character, from very deep old school bass, to bright, biting funk. There are some imperfections such as bucklerash, scratches, dents, hazing and other signs of wear(please see pics) These imperfections don't detract from its overall desirability, however. It comes with the original hard shell case, but be aware that the case has a broken hinge on it. This is a rare, killer bass and worthy of anyone's collection. See pics for info. Inv.
