This 1969 Fender Telecaster Bass is an amazing lightly-used instrument that we basically got from the second owner! Simply a beautiful vintage bass! Condition- The bass is in barely played condition with only a few minor blemishes and the lighest of checking on an otherwise pristine bass. It's actually quite remarkable. The instrument appears to be entirely original with all original parts with the exception of the strings. Of course. The ash body of the instrument has a few minor paint chips. The largest of which is one-half inch long and about one-eighth wide on the butt end of the body. There is another small paint chip at the leading edge of the bridge cover. Frets exhibit VERY little wear. At one time the owner moved the strap button from the upper horn to the lower one. It has been moved now to its original location. The screw hole ... morein the lower bout has not been filled. Some plating has chipped off the edge of the neck mounting plate. And very minor corrosion has affected some of the plated parts, mostly the tuning keys. All other parts are in excellent condition as would be expected of a bass that was rarely played. Dating- The date of the instrument was established through the serial number on the neck plate. The date stamp on the potentiometers and the date stamp on the neck heel. Other details provided below add to the evidence of authenticity- none of these elements are inconsistent with well-established information of Fender instruments of the era. The serial number of the instrument is stamped on the neck mounting plate of the instrument. The number indicates a date of manufacture of 1969 or 1970 according to Fender’s database of serial numbers. The neck is stamped in green ink at the heel. 23 310 9 9C. I bought this Fender American Standard Precision Bass new in 2008. And want to find a good home for it. I tend to prefer a vintage tone, so I've played my 60s Precision the vast majority of the time, leaving this one in it's case. What originally attracted me to the bass was its stunning looks. To me. Charcoal Frost Metallic paint and maple neck combination, framed by a white pickguard, is among the best combination of looks. And Fender put to work their many years of experience by taking care of details such as a High Mass bridge that allows stringing through the body of from back of the bridge, Hipshot tuning machines, a nicely radiused edge to the neck, and high overall quality of workmanship. Tone wasn't quite to my liking of the box, so I upgraded with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups which gives that thick sound Precisions ... moreare known for. Due to such low playing-time. You'll be hard-pressed to find any imperfections- this bass could easily be mistaken as brand new. The neck is perfect and adjusts for very low action without buzzing. Sorry- I'm hanging on to the case but all the case candy goes with the bass. Including documentation, Fender cord, Fender strap, plus truss rod and saddle screw hex wrenches. 1980s-90s Original Fender USA Molded Precision/Jazz Bass Case - Very Nice
For sale is my genuine Fender molded bass case. I've owned this since 1984and used it to house my old Precision bass. It has probably been out from under the bed 5 times in the last 29 years. My home is smoke free. There are a couple light scuffs on the surface but no gouges. The metal feet are all there. All the latches work and it has a lock but I do not have a key for the lock. The interior is black plush. I believe this will fit most. If not all, Fender Precision and Jazz basses.
