Used Mettler Type H15 160 gram labratory scale
You are bidding on a Mettler 160 gram precision labratory scale. It is type H15 and I don't know how old it is. But the experation date on the calibration is 1987, so obviously it is very old. I have no way of testing this unit and it would require calibration and may also need some repair for proper use. The glass is in good condition and all the knobs appear to work properly. It is missing the pendulum. It looks like it sat on a shelf for a number of years and some liquid that appears to be varnish spilled on the unit. I tried to remove it using several methods and was marjonly successful. It looks as though it could be wet sanded out and painted if someone wanted to restore the unit. This is a used Detecto brand Posto-Gram postal scale for parcel post. The dial says the rates are effective March 26. 1944. The scale overall has surface corrosion as shown. There is no weighing tray included to hold the object being weighed. The mechanism moves and actuates the dial, but I do not know if it is anywhere near accurate. This Detecto Gram scale is in pretty acceptable condition considering it's an antique and that it is quite a rare find. The serial number is 38650. Besides regular wear and tear, a little rust here and there, and a small chip on the inside of the glass as seen in the picture, I'd rate the condition of this piece at a solid 6/10 for its age. Great scale for your collection or to use again. Made by Made by the Jacobs Brothers of New York City. NY in the USA. Probably from the 1920s to 1940s, but just a guess, you be the judge. I recently acquired the piece at an auction. No provenance came with the piece. Beautiful metal base on this scale that still has much of its' original paint. I see no cracks or repairs to the base. Pans or head of the scale the weight arrow is in. There are 3 standalone weights that came with this scale. Great detailing on the paper tags on the piece, and also a state inspection sticker on one side. There is a serial number of"26123" impressed into the metal tag on one side of ... morethe scale. Great middle arm on this piece where the weight arrow is. The glass is still intact on both sides. What you see here is what you get. Not an expert in scales. So not sure if anything is missing or not. The scale is 13.5" across. By 15.5" tall, by 10.5" wide(with removable pan in place) There is no representation being made that this scale is in working order. Also, it has not been calibrated in any manner.
